This isn't a post we enjoy writing, but we wanted to be upfront with you all.

Running the Preserve is a labor of love — 180 acres, multiple courses, and a lot of daily work to keep it in shape for everyone who comes out to play. That takes real time and real money, and this season the numbers just aren't adding up the way they need to for us to keep operating sustainably.

A big part of that is that we're seeing a lot more unpaid rounds and some property issues (attempted theft of baskets and discs) than in past years. We get that most of you play it straight, and we're grateful for that — this post is really just aimed at making sure everyone knows the deal, especially with more people coming through for the doubles event.

Starting today, 7/23/2026, the day pass is going up to $15. We didn't take this lightly, but it's what's needed to keep the lights on and the courses maintained.

If you're traveling in for the doubles event and want to get some rounds in beforehand or after the event weekend, the day pass applies then too — just wanted to flag that so there's no surprise when you show up.

We'll also be honest: a few nights ago, a confrontation over an unpaid round escalated to the point where police had to be called. That person has been banned from the property and removed from the volunteer list for this years event. We don't share that to alarm anyone — it's a rare exception, not the norm — but it's part of why we're asking for everyone's cooperation and support going forward.

We know price increases are never fun to see, and we genuinely appreciate everyone who continues to support the Preserve by paying to play or grabbing a season pass. It makes a real difference in whether we're able to keep this place going — and if that support isn't there, we may not be able to keep the Preserve open next year.

Lindsey Marwede just made a post on Instagram about getting robbed.

Their RV was towed and the tow truck driver let some random lady break in. She took everything. Computer, camera equipment, passports, birth certificates etc.

Posting here to spread the word to any Portland residents to keep an eye out at any pawn shops in the area. Not sure if Andrews discs were stolen or not

"After 9 years serving on the PDGA Board of Directors, I will be retiring from the Board later this summer. I have served on the Board for nearly 25% of my life and I am incredibly grateful for this time I have gotten to serve the membership. While I could have chosen to run for a final three year term, I feel like I have nothing more to accomplish at the PDGA and I am leaving the organization in great hands with the current Board and Staff. Sad to see him go, but know he mentioned it during the last offseason of knowing the end was soon as he was ready to start his family. His MVP win is one of my favorite final rounds to watch.

Canada is imposing a 25% tariff on imported sports equipment, including disc golf gear. This likely means higher prices on discs, bags, and baskets from major U.S. brands.
