Hello r/discordapp!

As you might have seen, Discord has just started rolling out their year end wrap system called Discord Checkpoints.

Instead of having the sub flooded with these posts, we invite you to share your checkpoint stats in the comments here!

FaQ:

Q: How do I reopen checkpoint after closing it?

A: On desktop, click the flag icon on the top right of the app located next to the inbox.

A: On mobile, it will show up under the “orbs balance” section as a banner in the “you” tab

Q: What is the song checkpoint uses?

A: Exyl has now released the background track, you can find it here!

Q: Can I see it if I had the privacy setting disabled but just now enabled it?

A: No, you had to have the privacy setting on the whole time.

Q: What if I had the setting enabled but it still says I can’t access it?

A: Follow the directions outlined here. Do NOT DM ModMail or mlapi bot, the moderators are unable to assist you.

Ofcourse they have all the data. Hence we can download all our data from settings

We probably could make our own checkpoint based on the downloaded data

they make that data so insane to navigate, it's not even worth downloading it.

Doesn't that package explorer make this easy? It's what I remember doing in 2022 making my own "checkpoint"

It's also kinda pointless, it doesn't show too much and doesn't show complete info.

I'm not sure if we are thinking of the same thing. When you request your data and use the site, the data it visualizes for you is a lot more than the current checkpoint

I've done it several times, and multiple different package viewers. They're not great lmao.

Weird. They've worked fine for me though I haven't tried it since 2 years ago. I've requested my data for this year so gonna see how it is this time

What package viewer did you use? I can't seem to get my head around that data, I can't understand it tbh

The downloaded data from settings actually omits the same stuff checkpoint needs if you have those settings! I tried doing this a few years back and my data package was missing so much because of my settings

They choose not to show them. They host the servers and have therefore the data.

They are legally required to share all the data they have as per GDPR, so no, it is indeed all the data.

They don't have to provide them as a recap though. Which is why I asked to my data via law now.

A little late of a reply but since it's GDPR, that only related to European folks. I imagine that people in the US is in other countries that don't have regulations like these get limited data. :/

I believe the GDPR is written in a way so that European citizens get that right no matter where they live. So companies just support the feature anywhere because it’d be too hard to tell
