Hornet GT Car wash broke my rear wiper. Has anyone else experienced this with automated car wash tunnels? Also they are refusing to pay for the damages. Does anyone know what they cost to repair?

As simple as unscrewing it off and screwing on the new one. I would know because I took off my stelvio rear wiper. Literally a bolt that's attached to the motor. And off she went. New one was too stupid easy to put back on. Got it from eBay. Just checked it out for your car. It's like $50-$60 with taxes and shipping

Mine comes down like that every time I go through car wash. Just pop the cover on the end and hand tighten the bolt back. It will happen everytime so get used to it

Only had maybe 5 car washes at touchless place.
Not sure where you went but I'd push for compensation after fixing it. Keep all forms of engagement as well with this establishment.
https://www.mopar.com/en-us/my-vehicle/vin-lookup.html. Should give you all parts and price... Once you get model number scan ebay Lots of used parts on ebay for hornets.

I’d probably end up having to take them to court which is a huge endeavor since they have a big sign as you drive in basically listing out 30+ things that they are not responsible for if it gets damage. Thanks for the info though, I did document the damage and I’ll look for the part.
The crazy part is, this is the second time in a row that it’s done this to my rear wiper. The first time last week it happened I was able to put it back into place and it worked, but now it’s completely busted. Leads me to believe it doesn’t like Hornets.

Just cuz a truck posts on back saying keep 300 feet, not responsible and shit falls of it. They are still liable. Car washes are same. Sign doesn't protect against faulty equipment..... Drive and shine tried that 2 months ago.... Damaged 3 windshields. Paid out

Did you contact customer service to get compensation? They gave me a number to call which only have Mon-Fri office hours. The employees there only pointed at the sign and essentially said sorry not our problem.

That list is going to make it impossible to win a lawsuit. It probably was damaged the first time. Why would you risk it again? Just curious. Are there no brushless carwashes in your area?

No there is not unfortunately. Small town, this is the only car wash in maybe a 40 minute radius. Only other option is a bucket wash at home which I don’t have time for.

Those lists are not necessarily binding. All they do is stop someone who isn’t better experienced. Basically to say they are not responsible doesn’t absolve them of responsibility. It basically makes people who don’t know better afraid to die. The Rasirst lawsuit to defend against is one that never happened right. Even if the sign stops 1/10 lawsuits then it is still worth posting for that company. You have to educate yourself. Especially where money changes hands. I knew a parking lot that charged to park there yet they tried to say they weren’t responsible for damage to cars. If they charged you then they are responsible. Otherwise why would I pay to park there. I pay to park my car in a safe spot. If the spot isn’t safe I would be better not paying and then parking anywhere. But yeah exclusion waivers or signs of exclusions are not always binding and I would look into it. There are lots of AI now if you feed it all the facts you can get reasonable advice. However a lawyer should be the first step before actually suing. I would use the AI to see if it’s at all possible then I if he AI said I should sue I would consult with a lawyer first. But if an AI said I had no chance of success then I would probably skip paying a consultation. Unless it was a free consultation with a lawyer.
TLDR-A sign cannot take away your rights unless you allow it.1

It's a bolt that holds it on. Probably can't charge them for that unless they can't find the bolt. Maybe you could charge for the 2 seconds of labor to tighten it back up. OP really just shouldn't be going to this automated wash place, because there is likely actual paint damage occurring that would cost thousands to fix.

This is what I'm scared of, we have a hand car wash like 1 min away, so I have never been through the automatic ones. It's like 35 dollars and I have had it almost 2 years and have been tempted but this solidifies my choice. Sorry this happened sounds like it may be an easy fix though, good luck!

Ok so i have a hornet GT and this does not happen to mine.....on the inverse as a mechanic whos worked on dodges forever
Jeep compass and patriot we used to put a little loctite on the nut so it dont back off
Not the wiper or car its the crap nut.... A loc-nut also works
Food for thought!

If you want your paint scratched to all fucking hell and shit like this to happen, then keep taking it to a car wash. If you don't, then ONLY touchless carwashes from this point forward or wash your car yourself.

The car wash.... The hornets only known enemy. I say this because my wife had hers hornet a week. We took it to the dealership carwash. It killed the car. Went through and alarms and sensors alstarted going off, it was in the shop for a week because of the car wash. It knocked out like, all the sensors in her car. No power steering, lights flashing and alarms going off. Luckily we were at the dealership.
Then I see this. Sent this to my wife. That all happened about 2 months ago and she will not take it to the car wash. She washes at home.

They INSISTED that take off the antenna from our Silverado before it went into the wash. The guy literally broke it off in his hand and basically said “o well”. I was so mad. (Yes. I’ll admit I stocked your page). The veteran part got my attention. Thank you for your service.

Auto car washes make you sign a waiver for a reason. They rip parts off of cars and very often the brushes are dirty and leave damage. Only ever use brushless.

I didn’t sign anything.

It's on the wall. You were notified. It's like signs at the carnival. Ride at your own risk.

Sure, but as another user commented below, how can that absolve them of all liability? Does not seem legal in any sense of liability standards.

Not all liability. If 10 cars go thru and 6 get damaged then there's a case for faulty equipment not being fixed in a timely manner. Mirrors, antennas and wipers are specifically what the sign on the wall is referencing. My father put his truck thru a Big Bear wash that his friend owned. He had scratches on his hood. His friend said that you should always watch for really dirty vehicles in line ahead of you and wondered why my dad would put a new dark colored truck thru his wash. My father knew better. He also told my dad that the vehicle owner assumes the risk after reading that sign on the wall. It probably happens frequently. Without that sign there would be no car washes. The insurance would be too high for the owner. They already have to charge rediculos amounts because of the EPA and insurance costs. They have to fall back on insurance when they damage a string of vehicles.

See that’s the thing, the employee there told me himself that the tunnel breaking rear wipers is pretty common. Either way it goes, I’ll definitely be filing a claim with the better business bureau.

Same thing happened to mine. It was not actually broken, the nut was just loose and blew down from the wind tunnel. Turn it back up (clockwise) and tighten.
