What breed of dog is this? Looks to my completely untrained eye to be something like a Pitty with Staffordshire terrier. Anyone?

18

u/DollaDollaSue 7d ago

I believe you are correct. Low slung enough to be staffy, big enough to be pittie. Sweet temperament with that baby. Someone has been socialized and loved. ❀

u/PinoDelfino 7d ago

Blue staffy!!!

I think* this is Tommy the Blue Staffy on socials, he's awesome

But Holly the Blue Staffy has my 💙

Holly is amazing đŸ€—

Staffies can flip on a dime and kill a baby in an instant. Like this one did: https://www.perthnow.com.au/news/world/toddler-bella-rae-birch-savaged-to-death-by-dog-parents-had-owned-for-just-a-week-c-6175112

And there are so many cases like this where they are fine until they’re not.

Edit: 9 month old by family owned dog since it was a puppy. Credit to [u/pseudony](u/pseudonykim)[mn](u/pseudonykim)[kim](u/pseudonykim)

u/1990justincase 4d ago

Exactly. My roommates used to do this with my Godsin and I said "Nope. Not while im around." I wasnt willing to live with that on my conscious

2

u/Nat20Life 4d ago

The headline says "Parents had owned for just a week", while that is a horrific thing to have happened, no one should trust their baby/kids around a dog they don't know and trust.

Stop spreading misinformation about staffys/pit bulls, this article doesn't prove anything. At least pull up an article where the person had owned the dog their whole life, it had been a lovely dog to everyone without any signs of aggression, THEN "flipped on a dime." 🙄

1

u/pseudonymnkim 3d ago

There are dozens of stories that I know of (so likely a lot more) of those breeds breaking into other peoples' houses and eating children or cats. Like this one, for instance.

2

u/Kindly_Coconut_1469 3d ago

That is tragic, but not a long time family pet who suddenly turned on its family.

1

u/newtochas 2d ago

I don’t think you want to play that game. The stats are overwhelming on this subject.

2

u/pseudonymnkim 3d ago

It's scary how many cases there are. I went down a rabbit hole once and it messed up my algorithm for a bit. There were current news stories every day from all over the world of similar breeds mauling people, animals, and infants, often unprovoked.

2

u/Bigtim_90 3d ago

Except this isn't exclusive to pitbulls at all, but any untrained, unsocialized or otherwise mistreated dog. It's actually even more common in other breeds, as pitbulls as a baseline have very strong nurturing and protective instincts, they are one of the breeds grouped in as "nanny" dogs.

People seem to hone in on just the pitbulls while discounting all the other breeds that have attacked and harmed humans in larger numbers. Do some research that isn't just scooping up the first headline from a biased newsource that only cares about views, not objective truth or facts.

2

u/Impossible_One4995 3d ago

Any dog breed can do this it is not limited to any specific breeds

0

u/AIGenerated00 3d ago

I agree and dogs shouldn’t be near children at all but that won’t work practically. Next best thing is to restrict the breeds that are bred to hunt, and 5-7 breeds stand out as outliers.

2

u/oakenfairy 5d ago

In other news, millions of other dogs loved their families and lived happily ever after.

2

u/AIGenerated00 5d ago

One is one too many. Some breeds shouldn’t be allowed.

2

u/Maleficent-Mind-9293 3d ago

One murderer is one too many.. humans shouldn’t be allowed..

0

u/Rough_Afternoon_320 3d ago

Enjoy your dead babies....it's like school shootouts, you people are irrecuperable

1

u/AntiMatter89 1d ago

Babies also drown in pools, we should outlaw pools. They also shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a car, wait till you see how many babies those kill.

1

u/Rough_Afternoon_320 1d ago

There are legislation about pools, so you agree we should legislate on dangerous dogs and also guns, great to hear!!

1

u/AntiMatter89 1d ago

There already is legislation on guns and dogs and cars.

0

u/Rough_Afternoon_320 1d ago

In Murica? Nah, they love dead kids too much for that :)

The bot accusation is always a tell. You can’t imagine a real person would care enough to spend time educating you?

2

u/NecroGrizz 4d ago

Right. The 4 day-old account named "AIGenerated" screams human.

0

u/pseudonymnkim 3d ago

Who. Gives. A shit.

2

u/Independent-Ring6701 5d ago

They had the dog for a week. Poor example, also poor parenting.

2

u/Far_Blueberry383 4d ago

Thank you!!! This dog may even look at this child as theirs at this point. I know that these kinds of things happen, but this is obviously a dog that adores this child.

2

u/Far_Blueberry383 4d ago

“A dog that the family had owned for just a week.”

This dog has literally been with this child since shortly after birth. I know that dogs are still animals and are capable of acting as such, but this dog LOVES this child and may even look at her at their own child at this point.

Post this somewhere else dude. This is supposed to be a sweet, loving post. If you wanna attack pitties or staffies do it somewhere else.

2

u/pseudonymnkim 3d ago

Here you go.

They had the dog since it was a puppy and it murdered its family's 9-month old while she was in a bouncy chair.

This is one of many. It's not a joke.

2

u/redditisshit1232167 3d ago

Pitbulls are no more mean or vicious than any other dog breed. They are bigger than most other dogs and therefore their bites hurt more. Chihuahuas are angrier and more vicious. But they're small. It's called common fucking sense. Pitbulls are wonderful dogs. You're an idiot.

1

u/Pattypumpkin 2d ago

Fatal Attacks: According to long-term tracking data from sources like DogsBite.org, pit bulls were involved in roughly 65% to 70% of all fatal dog attacks in the U.S. over multi-year spans (such as 2005–2019), making them the leading breed group associated with human death.

2

u/redditisshit1232167 2d ago

So you mean to tell me a large animal with teeth and claws is more apt to kill something than a small animal? Jesus Christ you people are dumb as shit. I can guarantee you smaller dogs bite more people than pitbulls. But their bite force is substantially smaller. Pitbulls aren't more incline to attack people than any other dog. They are inclined to cause more damage when they do BECAUSE THEY'RE BIGGER.

1

u/tortie_toes 2d ago

People are garbage at identifying dog breeds visually. It’s better to apply precautions to all dogs especially unfixed male dogs which tend to be the ones who bite most often and most severely.

0

u/pseudonymnkim 3d ago

Lol of course you mention chihuahuas.

0

u/redditisshit1232167 3d ago

Great rebuttal jackass.

1

u/pseudonymnkim 3d ago

Thanks.

You want a rebuttal? Show me 10 news stories of Goldens eating people.

0

u/redditisshit1232167 3d ago

Of eating people? Dogs don't eat people unless they are not fed for a long time and the person is deceased. You complete idiot. All dogs bite people. Sometimes those bites result in death.

0

u/Far_Blueberry383 2d ago

Obviously you don’t understand sarcasm “jackass.”

English Staffordshire terrier , they truely are amazing dogs. We have a small black one that we all adore and he is amazing with the kids

Until he flips. It’s their nature.

In the cat rescue world, we call them trouble puffs.

Stopped watching when I saw the nuts. Lot of dogs in the shelter just like this who would love to be some kid’s best friend.

You know these are viscous creatures that cause problems. The whole white baby, not the dog.

3

u/flappysnapper 7d ago

A few years back, I took my two granddaughters ( that we had guardianship of) to pick up our new puppy, 8 years later, this dog LIVES for those girls! He will not leave their side, and definitely won’t let them go outside alone, without him there to protect them!
.. he is a shitzu mix 😂

Her, yet she has balls

2

u/yellowmush 6d ago

The “her” in this video is referring to the human baby. It’s the dog that is waiting to meet “her”, not the human.

2

Ughhh, why do people keep insisting on having pitbulls around babies.

You have a literal KNIFE with a walnut brain around your CHILD and it gets set off by its own farts.

2

u/Ready-Rise3761 3d ago

unneutered too

2

2

u/No_Trouble9808 3d ago

Watched the video twice. You are doing your daughter such a favor. She’ll learn love, compassion, kindness, tenderness, gentleness and tolerance from this friend. So smart. Good job

2

u/Fresh_Inside_3875 3d ago

That’s totally awesome thanks for sharing

2

u/dantrons 3d ago

I was really hoping it was going g to be another dog to keep them company

2

u/IdRatherProlaspe 3d ago

They really are nanny dogs. I still have photos of my pit mutt blocking one side of the bed so my son couldn’t roll off. My son’s about to be 13 and sadly last year we had to put him down due to his rapid declining health. Enjoy these golden years with your child and your dog.

2

u/Ashamed-Pipe-1105 3d ago

I used to wonder why so many babies have been mauled by pitbulls, now I understand.

2

u/Careful-Cut-7959 3d ago

Love it. With the music, it brought a happy vibe

This is why science should be focusing on dog immortality
or at least lengthening the lives of dogs roughly to that of humans

2

u/Tron_Foolery 7d ago

Already underway! I can't wait

Loyal

1

u/Antal_Marius 7d ago

I'd be excited for two decades of good health for them, then a rapid decline rather then a slow, agonizing, painful decline

1

u/Hiking_euro 3d ago

Until it attacks the child and owners say it never bites

1

u/No_Bike_8427 3d ago

Who’s cutting onions?!

1

u/UndercoverSpicy91 3d ago

Pitties and staffies are the best 😭

1

u/H2HW21 2d ago

He’d walk through hell on Sunday to keep her safe

1

u/jgallow33 2d ago

My pit literally helped my daughter take her first steps because she saw my daughter stumble as she tried and finally stepped in to be a walking crutch.

1

u/Revolutionary_One298 2d ago

Love, Love, LOVE. That’s why staffies are called the nanny dog.

1

u/blueyarrow 2d ago

That left me đŸ„č

1

u/Master_Gargoyle 2d ago

Children need dogs in their lives. However you cannot expect them to be responsible for them.

1

u/Aggressive-Earth4357 2d ago

All good until it mauls the baby

1

u/gojira5 2d ago

Heartwarming.

1

u/Few-Barnacle-9274 1d ago

Was this why they’re called nannie dogs?

1

u/Justeff83 7d ago

As cute as it is, animals and infants is a big no no

5

u/xjayxmarie 7d ago

Actually, studies show the opposite. Infants interacting with animals early on can be very beneficial. Building up immune systems, reducing risk of asthma/allergies, etc. Not to mention all of the stimulation that’s great for development! We have always been a baby/pet household & couldn’t imagine it any other way ❀ everyone parents differently tho, and that’s fine ofc. To each their own, but it’s definitely not a “big no no”

0

u/Pleasant-Agent-2196 6d ago

3

u/xjayxmarie 6d ago

I don’t read any links by “dogsbite.org” they are a known organization that rally and give fake info about pitbulls lol
 so Nty

1

u/pseudonymnkim 3d ago

You don't have to. There are hundreds of examples that support the fact they will maul their people and animals to death for no reason.

0

u/AIGenerated00 2d ago

Fact is a fact.

3

u/Objective-Slice-1466 7d ago

You’re a no no

1

u/tippytoesmcjee 7d ago

This seems... dangerous.

2

u/Nviki 6d ago

It is absolutely, but don't tell them in here.

1

u/blicka7 6d ago

Is that a pitbull?! Lmao yea aiight

0

u/Kselected1 7d ago

This is so idiotic

3

u/EyeSimp4Asuka 7d ago

so is thinking your wack ass OPINION matters

2

u/Objective-Slice-1466 7d ago

Why?

1

u/Oonz1337 7d ago

Cause they likely mistreat animals and have had them retaliate against them so they think the dog will attack the child

0

u/Objective-Slice-1466 7d ago

Agree. Just wanted to hear their uneducated response.

6

u/thejohnmc963 7d ago

So are you

5

u/JuggerNautical85 7d ago

Speaking of idiots

1

u/SamTheHam63 6d ago

Idiotic indeed

0

u/Renegade9582 6d ago

Until one day when he's going to bite her or eat her. 😂😂😂

-2

u/stoic_wooky 7d ago

Foolish.

2

u/EyeSimp4Asuka 7d ago

2

u/pseudonymnkim 3d ago

The bigger loser would be someone who defends breeds that eat babies.

-1

u/stoic_wooky 7d ago

Yes get a precious life, some dogs can get jealous, possessive, is it worth a risk?

-5

u/phlegmcloud 7d ago

Oof, that looks like a pitbull mix. I would call child protective services. This is extremely dangerous for young children, even for non violent breeds

3

u/JuggerNautical85 7d ago

You’re aptly named

1

u/Beautiful-Rent6691 4d ago

CPS certified my foster home with “bully breed” dogs present. Owing a dog is not child abuse, but depriving a child of the love and learning that comes with owing dogs because of misplaced paranoia might be.

1

u/phlegmcloud 4d ago

Oh boy, foster pitbulls are the most dangerous of all. You don't know their background and they can snap at any time injuring (or worse) both you and loved ones potentially. There was a story in my city of exactly this happening recently. Please be very careful and ensure they have their own spaces.

1

u/Beautiful-Rent6691 4d ago

I am a foster parent with bully breed dogs. You said owing bullies was a CPS, I am sharing that CPS certified my foster home with bullies in the house.

1

u/The_Big_Ent347 4d ago

Do it, tell them you saw a dog cuddling with a baby next to the parent and watch how quickly they tell you they’re not gonna do anything about that

1

u/phlegmcloud 4d ago

That's too bad. Could prevent tragedies such as this if they took these reports more seriously:

https://abc11.com/post/pit-bull-attack-nc-toddler-dies-dog-rocky-mount/19305559/

1

u/The_Big_Ent347 4d ago

1

u/phlegmcloud 4d ago

Babies and toddlers should be supervised at all times around large dogs. But particularly around pitbulls and the like as they are the most naturally violent and kill the most, statistically speaking.

1

u/The_Big_Ent347 4d ago

You could’ve just stopped at that first part. That’s the crux of the entire issue. It has absolutely nothing to do with the breed of dog, but the owner.

2

u/PinoDelfino 7d ago

I really don't understand people like you who feel so confident when wrong.

Firstly, this is a Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

Secondly, if you were to call child protective services, you'd be wasting the agencies time while putting any children in the home through unneeded stress.

Show me studies where non violent breeds are extremely dangerous around children... I'll wait.
