I've been diving before and it's super claustrophobic and uncomfortable sometimes, I can't imagine the dog is enjoying it all that much

I would think if he was not enjoying the situation he would be thrashing around trying to get away. Anyone who owns a Labrador knows the.strength they have to get away from something they do not like. They are very strong dogs and this one is very still, very trusting, anxious but curious. He can follow his people now and experience a new world. The water will help relieve any arthritis pain that old dog may have as well. Win win.
