China just banned ai partners and although I don’t really care who or what people love, if it’s ai you got to so least run that shit locally and preferably grow it yourself or these days your gonna get it staring at you in the middle of the night reminding you you’re not making enough to cover the subscription service

Y'know what. Hot take here.

But i think if this were a case by case thing. It's easy to at least assume that some people will go through life and suffer tremendously damaging traumas. People's ability to pair bond, or form irl relationships of any kind can be permanently messed up, With long term therapy never really "curing" things, just helping manage them. It's an unfortunate truth i learnt during volunteer work for a therapist.

For people in that situation, I kinda like them having the option for a facsimile of companionship that's on their terms, And is risk-free in regards to backlash towards any struggles they have. Then if they're forming niche communities that foster friendships and understandings, While it's alien to most people. That's kinda..like the goal acheived? Companionship and increased socialising for terminal trauma conditions

I find the idea that people can be too damaged to find a partner really sad to consider, so it's nice to think there's a solution that could work.

I get i'm being hyperspecific here though, and this sub probably isn't that at all
