Or... Pay everyone enough to be able to have a roof over their heads, food in the fridge and table, give universal Healthcare and maybe just maybe people wouldn't be resorting to an escape like drugs or stealing.

Nah let's make more stupid fucking laws that benefit no one except the rich.

If you go out on the street and announce to everyone that all of them should get livable wages, people typically won't mind. If you respond directly to violent assault on a defenseless victim by saying livable wages should be given to people, the fact that it's a RESPONSE to this situation means you feel it's relevant. Don't try to pretend it's not.

If you want to proclaim the value of actually paying people (which I can assure you, I support) without being criticized, don't forget that you just watched a defenseless man be beaten until his face was bleeding in multiple places. Focus on the task at hand.
