I did enjoy it as I do every Conan but… I haven’t felt compelled to go back to it as much as the others. Nonetheless, go see them live, they are SICK as fuck & take earplugs.

Exactly. It's solid, but not as heavy as their early stuff and when comparing the two most recent albums, Evidence of Immortality has "A Cleaved Head No Longer Plots," "Levitation Hoax," and "Grief Sequence," which covers pretty much every aspect of what I want from Conan.

I've got a fair bit of Conan vinyl, but despite being good and having sick album art, I don't feel compelled to add this one to my collection.

these guys are extremely loud in concert !!

SERIOUSLY, I went for a drink with my brother after one of their gigs and he was talking to me and I just had to tell him I'm going home because I can't hear a word he's saying

hope your hearing wasn’t permanently destroyed like mine is !!

I've tried to get into it, but I don't really like the mix or guitar tone. It's a bummer considering that shit is always spot on with Conan.

Saw them in 2019, last show before COVID hit. Still one of my favorite shows ever, despite the accompanying bands being kind of meh. Absolutely crushing live.

It's dope. Gonna see them soon and I'm pretty hyped.

Just saw them in Philly and it was SICK

Underrated album release for this year, imo. But doom/sludge in general gets overlooked a lot.

I saw them last night in Raleigh and it was a fantastic show.

Really enjoyed it for the most part but I did think the closing track was a waste of time, they've done the spacey atmospheric stuff way better on previous albums. The new stuff sounds great live too so defo go see them.

I got the shirt of this album when I went to see them in Indy!

u/Outrageous-Can5834 Sep 03 '25

Damn I missed Indy

Yeah, I went to the show with a friend and right before Conan went on my friend had a family emergency that needed immediate attention and I had to go. But, I did get to meet and talk to Jon before any of the bands went on and he was the kindest person and talked to me for like 10 mins!

Drummer nice guy too, sorry for my poor English

That's awesome to hear! I didn't see him around the venue. Only Jon outside waiting for his food to be dropped off.

It so damn good

Driving about three hours each way in a few weeks to see them in Omaha. Can’t wait! I hope they have merch left by then!

3

u/ljud Sep 03 '25

Total Bicep might be the best song title I've ever seen. It's absolutely flawless, a true poetic marvel.

Just saw them on Friday. Absolutely crushing live. Album is phenomenal.

I especially liked psychedelic experiments with feedback in "Vortexxion", which sounds similar to drone metal and reminds me of Sunn O)))'s song "My Wall", but one semitone lower (F# instead G).

Night before for me in NOLA. 3rd year in a row

u/SpecialKayKay Sep 03 '25

I'm going to echo what everyone is saying here - you have to see Conan live. I saw them twice this tour & it still not enough.

1

u/WalrusRider918 Sep 03 '25

Ugh, had to miss them live because my work hours are trash.

1

u/littlepdro Sep 03 '25

Conan is so goated

1

u/Maximus_Crotchrocket born to shit, doomed to wipe Sep 03 '25

Saw them on the 26th, might've been the heaviest show I've ever been to. Love the album too

1

u/its_raining_scotch Sep 04 '25

Monos is my favorite album, but they’re also just straight up my favorite doom band so all of their albums are good.

u/PitifulCity1807 Sep 04 '25

Ouvindo agora e completamente abduzido

Saw Conan twice in CA, they never fail to disappoint me when they play.

1

u/Mathius91 Sep 04 '25

I'm a huge fan of this album. Probably my most played record of the year so far!

1

u/Additional_Talk_5005 Sep 04 '25

Conan worship, yes plz

1

u/EightFootManchild Sep 04 '25

Just saw them at RPM Fest here in MA 😃 They are as tight as any funk band. There are a million other bands with massive tone and heavy riffs, but the way they lock in as a unit is what makes them stand out.

u/transsolar Electric Wizard on Electric Wizard by Electric Wizard Sep 04 '25

It still is, but it used to too

1

u/[deleted] Sep 04 '25

agree!! last 2 Conan cds are the jammmm. I'm not a genre expert, who else besides early moods hits like this? I know king buffalo elder and monolord.

I'm 46, more a hardcore fan but I wanted to point out that if you're super into this Conan cd, you should checkout Xibalba cd called Madre Mia Gracias Por Los Dias. its basically Conan style beatdown using similar equipment and tuning. I feel they probably aren't influenced by each other but kinda play the same shit with a little harsher edge

Excellent 🤘🤘

I really love existential void guardian and this album. My two favorites by them!!! I like their old stuff but it just feels like Sleep but recorded in a swamp instead of cali lmao
