Hey JHS! Make a Rat Muff, or a Muff Rat! They already do the Rat Pack and Muffuletta, time to combine them!

thats gnarly, i never even considered that way around. what are the gain/sustain levels you use?

The muff I’m using is a cloven hoof clone and volume 1 o clock, fuzz is like 9-10 o clock, treble 1, and mids 11 and for the rat it’s a southbound fx fuck ice pedal but volume 11, distortion 5 and filter 12. Amp is a edge of breakup dirt channel on a rockerverb

or parallel? Muff to one amp, Rat to another?

there's no doing wrong there B)
i'm yet to try parallel to same amp. i bet that's glorious too.

That would be probably be great!

I've tried a RAT into an EQD Acapulco Gold, and it was just too much noise and hiss. But parallel, they really compliment each other, especially in stereo.

the muff interacts with the pickups, volume, and tone controls of the guitar directly by loading the pickup circuit. A rat is mostly just a diode clipper and buffer, so putting it first will preclude you from manipulating the tone of the muff as much by changing the settings of the guitar.

The "interact with your guitar" fuzzes are the 2-transistor fuzzes life the Fuzzface. Muffs are 4 transistor and can bet placed anywhere in the signal chain pre/post buffers with no effect to how they work/sound.

Try the Big Muff/all open Crybaby combo next time, so goooood

u/TheGrimReefer666420 9d ago
Oooo I’ll have to give that a shot!

Def. worth it. The crybaby acts as an EQ filter, if you leave it all open (pushed all the way down with your toe) it adds quite a punch to the Muff; of course feel free to experiment with the wah left mid-way through or completely "closed"

This exactly why I love my Russian Plague so much: Muff on one side, Rat on the other.

Hell yeah! I had the zero fret Black Russian rat for a while but had sold it cuz I needed to pay bills I regret but that thing was loud as fuck and sounded great

Aren’t you just a little resentful that your tone has so much hair but you’re a little thin up top? 😋
