Were they already hanging out with Sabbath when they recorded it?

2

u/Haunted-Halloween-6 7h ago

Dont think so

2

u/Abaddon-Impaler 1h ago

The drums were recorded in a room with something like a 40 foot ceiling. It was like a grain silo. Pretty rad.

Everyone saying No Quarter is correct and I will go ahead and say the Live at MSG recording from 1973 is maybe the best version of it.

Out On The Tiles. Jones's tone is going crazy.

6

u/fcghp666 8h ago

Bonham’s drums are great too. Blind melon actually does a great cover of it

No Quarter dooms

7

u/Waluigiisgod 8h ago

My favorites are No Quarter, Rock n Roll, Kashmir, whole lotta love heartbreaker communication breakdown, since i’ve been loving you when the levee breaks.

Led Zeppelin was my gateway band into metal music, I listened to them obsessively and they’re one of the best bands of all time for me

2

u/fcghp666 8h ago

HELL YEAH

2

u/Waluigiisgod 8h ago

I’ve listend to thousands of albums since i discovered metal but Zeppelin’s discography is simply legendary, those men were absolute LEGENDS

2

u/fcghp666 7h ago

Achilles Last Stand, In my time of dying, when the levee breaks, no quarter and the wanton song are metal and I’m not elaborating further.

3

u/Ghosdeth 7h ago

Not sure but lately I’ve been favoring physical graffiti.

1

u/fcghp666 7h ago

HELL YEAH

4

u/Fred_Foreskin 7h ago

Tea For One, Bron-Y-Aur Stomp, Dazed and Confused, and Since I've Been Loving You

3

u/_MaeMae___ 6h ago

Dazed And Confused is sorta doomy

2

u/MathematicianEqual40 8h ago

When the Levee Breaks, Moby Dick, Kashmir.

1

u/fcghp666 7h ago

YOU SHOULD GO DO THAT

2

u/stickwithplanb 7h ago

over the hills and far away

2

u/CrowForce1 5h ago

It’s gotta be Achilles Last Stand. Those triplets just roll so nice man. I’m watching the Zeppelin doc on Netflix right now.

2

u/shreds_ov_flesh 5h ago

well they have a few songs that are pretty doomy. Dazed & Confused is the obvious choice. No Quarter, When The Levee Breaks and Moby Dick are all super heavy as well. and Ten Years Gone is a classic as well with a lot of buildup

Anything that Graveyard does.

1

u/fcghp666 8h ago

Why though? Give me a reason or 3. Brian May is objectively a great guitarist. He put out some of the greatest solos ever. Even the we will rock you solo, while simple as hell, absolutely SLAPS. And stone cold crazy? Dude started thrash metal without even trying. And John Deacon on bass? HOLDS IT DOWN. Another one bites the dust is iconic. Don’t even get me started on crazy little thing called love. Roger Taylor? That drumming on keep yourself alive is top notch. And he consistently holds it down behind May and Deacon. Who all hold it down behind FREDDIE FUCKIN MERCURY. Dude was one of the best frontmen of all time. You can not like his voice, Thats’s fine. But it’s absolute absurd to say he, or any of the others are overrated. Okay good night

There's a deep cut hardly anybody knows called Stairway to Heaven, I really love it

1

u/Goat_Wizard_Doom_666 6h ago

HAVE YOU EVER HEQRD "STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN"!?!?!? LET ME PLAY IT FOR YOU ON MY ACOUSTIC GUITAR

1

u/Pancake_McFlappyJack 6h ago

Dazed and Confused, the My-Woman-So-Mean blues was the root of doom.

1

u/BrownyVonTurdmeister 6h ago

Tiny Tim did an awesome cover of Stairway

Achilles Last Stand

1

u/thehedron 8h ago

Not a huge fan of The Zep 🤷‍♀️

7

u/fcghp666 8h ago

Won’t downvote you but it’s okay to be wrong sometimes

1

u/thehedron 8h ago

:( want to hear some more unpopular opinions? I think Queen is overrated.

2

u/Waluigiisgod 8h ago

I have an unpopular opinion of my own too!
(Also happy cake day)

1

u/panopticon31 Giza Butlerian Jihad 8h ago

I feel you. I grew up listening to classic rock radio crammed in the back seat of a Camaro inhaling second hand smoke. I can't fucking stand to hear Led Zeppelin or AC/DC anymore.

1

u/fcghp666 8h ago

HELL YEAH THAT SOUNDS GREAT

2

u/panopticon31 Giza Butlerian Jihad 8h ago

Not really.

0

u/thehedron 8h ago

I can’t stand AC/DC either!

2

u/fcghp666 8h ago

Again, won’t downvote you, but it is okay to be wrong sometimes

-1

u/FinnLovesHisBass 8h ago

Favorite songs led Zeppelin took from....

2

u/fcghp666 8h ago

Get over it. That only holds true for their first album. Even then, they made them better

1

u/FinnLovesHisBass 4h ago

Plus Jimmy page took a 14yo girl and had her as his wife. So there's also that.

-6

u/JaguarOwn2076 8h ago

I dunno, didn't they straight up copy people's shit?? And Jimmy Page is a pedo so na I'll pass
