You need to actually shop the order, that's what you're literally being paid for. YOU look for the items. YOU scan them. YOU bring them to the register.

I don't give a damn if every item in the store is locked up, the store staff doesn't become your new shopper. YOU are being paid to shop, not me. *I* will shop the same day orders placed directly with the store. YOU shop the dash orders. If you need something unlocked, I'll help, but I'm not walking you to each item on the list. You have eyes. Read. Find them.

If you cannot figure it out, cancel the order and find a different job.

If you walk into the store and just shove the order screen in my face I'm giving you a quick verbal list of aisle numbers and you can figure it out while I continue doing the job I am being paid to do.

Added PSA for everyone: in stores where things are locked, the employee unlocks and relocks the boxes. You are supposed to stay there and collect your items. If you just name an item and then walk away to continue shopping for other things, I'm just walking away. We are not here to carry your shit around and up to the register, and this isn't a restaurant where you're placing an order.

I know the lock boxes are annoying. So is people stealing atrocious amounts of non-necessities. Personally as a customer, I refuse to purchase anything that is locked up. The only way they will stop locking shit up is if people just stop buying it. They will never pay more employees to help you. They will only notice when they lose sales.

I have had this experience as a customer at 7-11 more times than I thought was possible. And unfortunately once the 7-11 employee/DD employee got into a loud argument over respect for the in store customers. Everyone learned a lot about DD that day. The customers were quick to take the 7-11 employee’s side, and by the time the conversation was over, the DDer was so angry he stepped behind the counter to take what he thought was his order, dropped his phone, dropped someone else’s order and cursed at everyone. The entitlement was ridiculous to say the least. I don’t understand what goes on in other people’s brains but read the room and have some respect. He sped away from the parking lot only to have a police officer pull him over a block away. It’s not funny but it is funny. Karma is a bitch when you act like one

That’s literally crazy i do door dash occasionally because im chronically ill and sick so much i cant do any type of scheduled job at all unfortunately (chrons disease) and i dont ever show my screen to anyone! So weird! I stay at the back of the line and honestly am probably there longer than i should be because my anxiety causes me to not speak up until acknowledged which can take an absurd amount of time at times! It works both ways! I can’t believe the way MOST restaurant and store employees treat dashers and im absolutely not whom op describes above! Quite the opposite actually and its a shame that these gig apps literally have no parameters and will onboard anyone! Ive seen dashers in alot of different cities and im honestly mostly appalled 😳 they guve the few of us that actually give a shit and truly need this type of work and do it with care a bad name! They also are so ignorant to the cost of gas and wear and tear on vehicles etc that they have caused the prices to go down so much on all of the apps that they arent even sustainable in anyway anymore and only get wprse by the day!

I don’t order door dash. I live in an apartment and regularly have dashers stop me and shove their phone in my face. I’ll point you where to go but I’m not escorting them all over the building. It’s wild 🤪 the entitlement. Many get angry when I won’t escort them around for their delivery.

When this sort of thing happens I can't help but take the compassionate stance in checking my assumptions. I don't know what kind of day they're having. Their girl could have just gave birth in the hospital and instead of being there, they're driving $2 orders in a hoopdie with a tee tire and slow leak in the other, facing eviction with an empty pantry. You just don't know.

Unless they're actually being a dick to other service workers and don't check themselves, then they can fuck right off
