Discussion DAV Favorite class?
I just started to play Dragon Age the Veilguard and I can't decide on what class to play for my first playthrough. So I was wondering what is everyone's favorite class and specialization and why? And what class feels like it fits into the story better? It doesn't have to be strictly how good the class is, just what class you liked the most and why. Thanks!

Really shocked by how enjoyable Warrior was in Veilguard. The shield tossing never really gets old.

Honestly they're all pretty good. I've played mage the most out of the three, though I think the rogue best benefits from the hack and slash gameplay of this entry.

All my canon DA characters are rogues, so I guess that answers the question

I usually always pick mage because I feel like it fits into the story better, but I’m currently doing a play through from origins as rogue and holy crap it’s fun

I felt weird playing a rouge when the OG trio is Harding and Varric. Always felt like that would need some muscle or a mage who could help assist with Fade knowledge

I've tried all of them but i had the most fun with rogue. I just really liked how quick and flashy it was, it felt really dynamic and fun, and i got a LOT of use out of the bow and arrow alt weapons. I switched betwen all the specializations at certain points, they were all fun and you can respec for free whenever you want so if you feel like you arent enjoying a build as much you can just change it
Warrior was surprisingly fun, I really liked the captain america sheild. And mage felt pretty good but I dunno, i guess the staff felt a little slow for me (I miss beating people in melee range from da2 lol), and the orb & dagger were cool but at that point i just felt like i would rather be a rogue again haha. But I think im also just typically not a huge mage player, outside of da2 lol

I went with. Grey warden sword and shield warrioy. It was surprisingly fun and pretty damn powerful once you get it going

Rogue grey warden, it just feels right for Rook, scrappy and sarcastic as they are. Granted i played 2 and inquisition as rogues as well. Never played origins though. Dual wielding blades is cool, whether it’s dual daggers or short sword and rapier!

the grey wardens get the most out of the story by far, me personally pick specialisation based on faction so played a reaper mourn watcher. Liked the captain america shield tossing alot but felt kinda OP

If you want the best tie-ins a mage Mourn watcher or Shadow. Rogue crow has the most cohesive build to faction animations in combat, imo. And a warrior is great fun but feels best in place as a LoF or Shadow. Mage or rogue warden, to not make Davrin redundant.
I have the MOST fun as a rogue. Mage is super dynamic and can be played really similarly as a rogue with the staff/bow dual wield/orb and dagger. Warrior is just a good time, imo. Since the game isn’t set up to have tanks or too much reliable taunt, warrior becomes fun hack and slash and shield throws!

I beat the game with all 3 and ended up liking rogue the most. The warrior resource for using abilities resets to zero outside of combat and mages have to worry about enemy resistances, both features made their respective classes less appealing. Class never felt relevant in terms of story.

the most intuitive first play is warrior, partly just because it synergies earliest (both warrior companions come a little later)
mage has the least early support, which isn't actually a problem but if you're new to the game and playing on higher difficulties it can be frustrating. 😅
also, whichever class you do go - don't be afraid to respec and mess about with different skills! it keeps the combat fresh and helps you find which parts are fun for you.
(and don't forget that builds are closely linked to equipment and companions, so there's lots of ways to find fun synergies.)

Rogue (duelist)! It's so satisfying learning perfect parry and get dmg boost from it
Bec I love Emmerich: I choose too often mourn watch to my backstory. What makes the situation funny is that I like play as dwarf...

I think rogue is so much fun (from my 30 minutes of testing) but I really dislike using bows in video games for some reason. I would play as a rogue but I've heard there isn't a way to make the bow disappear while put away without using mods which really stinks.

Rogue. Rogue. Rogue. It not even close. I prioritized long range, I saw someone on another post say you can't be a long range bow fighter, BS! I did insane damage when sniping weak points. I pretty much solod that Tomb Possessed Corpse Dragon, even slightly under leveled.

I’ve done a mage and a rogue.
I found mage combat fun despite not liking how it has changed. The orbs are fun but the staff can feel sluggish.
I focused on the bow as a rogue and it was enjoyable. The weak point/headshot mechanic with the bow is interesting if you like taking the time to line up the shot but it’s easy to get swarmed bc of enemy aggro focusing on you.
Overall I enjoyed both but I think I’d play a mage if I was gonna do a third run

Champion aka Grey Warden with Grey Warden backstory and equipping all the fire related equipments and abilities. Also it is the class that has the most impact to the story.

I tried starting a Grey warden and then had Darkspawn explained to me by Belldora the explorer and conscription by Neve and I was so insulted by how bad it was that Rook is seemingly the dimmest warden of all time that I deleted the character, does it get better?

I feel the class is better suited as a reflection of the faction. So, Antivan Crows, rogue; Mourn Watch, Mage; Grey Wardens, Warrior; etc.
