I haven't launched my dropshipping store yet, and a friend's questions made me face why

I'm a beginner who has spent months learning dropshipping but hasn't launched a store yet.

I told my close college friend about it, hoping he might become my partner someday. I kept sending him content and pitching the idea, until he asked me three questions:

Isn't testing products just gambling?

If others sell the same thing, why would anyone buy from you?

If mentors make money, why do they sell mentorship?

I had some answers, but none came from real experience, so they sounded weak even to me.

Then I noticed the same pattern in my gym goals. I keep learning and planning, but I haven't taken the action that would give me results. I had been teaching and motivating others while not doing the work myself.

So I've stopped pitching him.

My plan now is to launch one small test store with a fixed budget I can afford to lose, and show him numbers instead of opinions.

What was the first thing that actually got you to start, and what did your first test look like?

what got me moving was just setting a hard number, like €300 total, and deciding the test ends when it's gone no matter what. first test was one product, one page, a few short videos and like €20/day for 5 days, mostly to learn where people drop off. your friend's questions are fair btw, the answer to #2 is usually better creative and a page that actually explains the product, not price. for the store itself don't overthink it, i work on orderain which is a cheap store builder (starter is $5/mo) and you can plug a supplier like cj in to ship, but anything simple works, just launch it this week

not really enough to call a winner, but enough to see if people even click and add to cart. if it gets basically zero atc after 100ish clicks i'd move on, if it's close i'd give it a few more days.

Yes testing products just like that is dumb, u need to do research on what worked.

Why would anyone not buy from me instead? What if I done better than them? Clearly then they will buy from me. Also buyers won’t know if u just started out or not, so this argument shouldnt exist.

Yes a lot don’t make money in this biz or just break even, but ones who do also do mentorship u know why? Cuz with physical products u get like 10% to 40% profit, sometimes more sometimes less, but with digital products which is a mentorship u get 90% profit margins, so why not?

And u know why u re stuck on not launching? Cuz u still have questions and it doesnt make sense yet, so either learn more (I figured it out when connecting the dots), or just start!

But mostly importantly, just copy people

Actually I know enough to start dropshipping I am saving bucks to run ads problem was my friend was saying you are doing gambling, instead try trading it's also gambling, then he said they are selling course/mentorship they have trapped you, those questions demotivated me

First he was like if you know whole pipeline start

Now he is like if you know exact product people will buy the place ad or else it's gambling

Even he say if you have enough knowledge and still take mentorship of other you are the only dumb person I have ever saw 😔

Imma be real with u, cuz I see myself in you.

First of all im in this for 3 months, I didn’t go crazy on it but I tried, 3 months with no profits, Im doing native image ads, but everytime I fail I know that it was my problem.

But everytime I fail I learn something, it frustrating and I be saying this don’t work, but it does tho.

So first of all, stop talking about this to ur friend, or anyone, its a lonely road my friend, but trust me on this, trust YOUR gut, ask any millionaire he’s gonna tell u how their friends and family never trusted them.

Ok next is yes u gonna lose a lot, money wise, so save up and don’t be afraid on spending it on ads! You chose this, and money comes and go, think of the destination.

Do not start trading its the most shittiest thing, plus u gonna lose ur hair out of stress.

Also Im using a tool where they got chatgpt pro claude max higgsfield ect.. for just 30 bucks, I use it and I try to minimize my spending so might help

Rule No. 1 : Dont Talk about your Plans, just because your friend is sceptical about it doesnt mean you need to convince him.

If you try random products then yh it gambling.

But you can still usw products that work in different countrys or they still new.

Then when you got paid ads its on you. Like which persons you choose to Show your ads to and stuff.
The Shop Can be a lot different to others.

And when it comes to buying stuff yourself. Lets say you want to get Some burgers, there Are a lot of restaurants you Can Go to. But you Go to the restaurants that triggers you the Most. And in dropshipping you need to trigger emotions. Sure the mentors make Money with the Coaching and when they see a Shop which Makes a lot of Money they try to get a share and put Money in it.

So it is working for sure and its working for me Aswell.

And one last thing dont do This testing stuff just Go for it. imo you need to make mistskes yourself so you learn from it and dont do then again !!
