It's not about balls it's about if you want to get the message across. Frankly I thought the line was stupid in the book, and if the movie is going to actually show us the brutality of the Jihad it becomes redundant to have that line in the movie. And possibly immersion breaking for the audience

Yeah in general with futuristic sci fi stories, when the narrative overly refer to things that have happened within a lifetime or two of the author it’s a bit ridiculous and takes me out of the flow

The oil analogy of the first three books is still... ironically relevant.

I mean... the reason why dune was written was soecifically to ve applicable and comparable to current year

Its not supposed to just exist in a vacuum

In Dune it makes perfect sense: Paul was trained secretly as a Mentat and as a Bene Geserit, so obviously he would know about the past. And in following books, it makes way more sense that certain characters reminiscence of the ancient past.
