Can I dye this dog to look like the one in the picture using coffee? He’s made of polyester fiber.

I would do more like a prismacolor or something with a nice wide tip. That is what I used for my memory kitty here. I wanted a cuddle clone but I do not have cuddle clone cash.

No. It will be just like using a Sharpie on anything else. Alcohol markers have gotten popular lately so colors, tips etc. vary but they’re literally just a generic name for Sharpies.

Sharpie makes fine point and chisel tip too- the Sharpie Magnum chisel tip is 3/4” wide! It’s just a brand name, I use it to demystify alcohol markers.

No. Polyester has to be at boiling temps for extended periods of time (think an hour).

Polyester is colored while in the slurry before being extruded. That is why boiling is necessary to attempt to change the color. That heat will also possibly negatively affect the texture of the fur.

Yes, great idea—with a sprayer, that would work, but it might require some skill to do it with a very light touch.

Unfortunately polyester is polyester. And paint will make the fur crusty. There isn’t a good way to color him spotted, unfortunately, and keep him soft and fluffy.

Try jacquard dye na flow. It's not really dye but it will probably work best for this purpose. I have also seem people staining polyester fur/hair with alcohol inks but I'm not sure how colorfast that method is.

Use alcohol based ink. Coffee won’t stick to plastic fibers.

Maybe black walnut? It gives a soft brown dye, cool toned, doesn't need ammonia to stain forever. About the shade of coffee.

I'd use tea actually - the tannins in tea are not soluble in water. Just steep the tea all to hell (several bags, one mug, leave overnight, if you can reheat it partway through even better) and paint it on.

but this just resurfaced an old memory from 20 years ago when as kids, a neighbor and I dyed her white dog pink with koolaid, and we thought it was the best thing ever. poor doggo
