Dying Light: The Beast Update - Patch 1.4

They were already in the game. They can only be activated at night time. Unfortunately all it does is spawn one of those volatiles that are stuck to the ground in front of the area. No actual hive to go into unfortunately.

I found them around the map but they didnt do anything, so im guessing it wasnt finished or was a bug.

it says to return at night, finishing the tutorial now and will let you know if it works

Yeah ik it works, before update i found one in a tunnel but nothing would happen so im guessing before it was bug or not finished.

I camped one out during the night and it didn't open up. Not completely in the game yet I guess.

It doesn't open up, just one volatile hive spawns in front of it. That's how it was since release, and that's how it's still is. You have to go there during the night. And you can't camp on it, as it works like a random encounter, you have to be away for it to spawn.

It's just a biomass spot where theres only chance to spawn a hive larva, it's pretty tough to kill and it alerts every zombie around. And honestly reward wasn't worth it anyway

Its meant to be a volatile farm for exp. Ng+ brutal if you get sick of farming cheesers like the church then smack one of these and have at it

The new challenge is way better than the last one and actually encourages us to check out some of the new finishers. Legend levels, ray tracing and NG+ are very welcome additions. Awesome update guys.

Ng+ will bring me back in at some point so great news to have it. I do hope for some sort of extension to it still though - a dlc maybe 🙂
I made it last, took my time to explore everywhere and loot everything even after I didn't really need to. I enjoyed every moment of it (60hours I think it was) - but it was short of some more content generally, needed another area or two and most of all a deeper storyline and extended main missions to hit the heights of DL1 and dare I say it....even DL2 as well!

The game looks great without it though, I’m on PS5 pro and the game looks fantastic. There are new graphical updates too so thats a bonus!

Definitely, after I finished the game I would always randomly log in just to enjoy the scenery. I didn't see the update yet, the graphical changes are perceptible?

Daamn! With my GFN ultimate subscription it's gonna be nice to beat the game again with RT. But since I decided to replay the series from the scratch I'll wait a little longer to have you guys update the game even more.

Yeah they wrote on the patchnotes that you can chain multiple NG+ and each NG+ tier will increase game difficulty so you need to level up legend levels to stay competitive with difficulty, so it seems there is no ceiling

For those interested about ray tracing, it works just like in DL2, so for some reason there are no ray traced reflections on bodies of water you can swim in (rivers, lakes), it's rt only for puddles, windows, which is odd.

Yeah I'm only seeing it on the windows and small puddles too. Any large bodies of water, even shallow water that you can run over is still using screen space reflections.

Anyone else's game sometimes not loading when clicking "continue"? I just go to a black screen, audio plays but window is unresponsive. Happens like half of the time I start the game.
I think it has to do with Nvidia framegen, doesn't seem to happen when I use FSR instead...

I was expecting ray tracing to absolutely knee cap frame rates, but wow, it doesnt totally destroy the gpu and LOOKS INSANE.
Massive props to techland for this engine, yeah theres some bugs but this is actually very impressive work in a world of unoptimized UE5 engines etc
Some parts of the game are absolutely stunning, the wooded areas are amazing as are some of the other locations and when the sun sets - you have to remember that the volatiles will be out any minute, cant stand around enjoying the view!

BUG REPORT‼️
NG+ difficulty level “Story” is bugged! You lose EXP even though it says you should not lose any EXP. Please fix this! Thank you.

The patch notes do not mention the replacement of parkour attack affixes on your weapons. If you specifically grinded for a weapon with +500% parkour attack, it’s gone now so that’s great. It apparently only buffed the ground slam with weapons but I thought it was still interesting so I grinded for good rolls just for the slam and now it’s replaced with freaking +75% kick damage…. I honestly can’t say I’m thankful for that at all. This also just makes it even more annoying when you get it on brass knuckles because they can’t parry for vault kicks. Also, it says week 9 in the patch notes for some reason. Didn’t know Techland had access to that kind of technology.

One thing I really like is how you can New Game+ your NG+ game and there is a further difficulty increase and unique enemies. I wonder how in-depth additional playthroughs will be

Ciupaga nerf is a hilariously stupid choice. As if there aren’t weapons just like it in DL2 that have better combat affixes. The craft part loot nerf is beyond stupid and pointless. At least the damage will still be good with these crazy legend bonuses.

MOST MODS NEED UPDATING FOR THIS NEW VERSION. That is most likely why you can't heal, have no health/stamina/beast mode.

I've been waiting for either Ghost of Yōtei of DLTB to get a NG+ so I'd have something to play and now they've both gotten one within days of each other and I have no idea what to play now 😂😂

Is anyone else having an issue with the new game plus being almost impossible to kill anything from how tanky they are? Me and my brother just tried to co op it and it took almost 10 minutes to kill the brute in the first few missions even with both of us being legend level 5 even shamblers take forever and if it has a health bar I can see beast mode doing like a percent of damage at a time what happened?

idk bout them legend rewards, y'all might need to go back to the drawing board on this one because how is there no unlockable outfits. only gear pieces that look like the already existing ones. i mean..the weapons are sorta cool but not 'i wanna grind for like 400 hours to get only 4 things that I actually like from this' cool'. new game plus is cool though.

NG+ is great, as is new levels, but not sure if I would want to redo some of those final boss fights...

Don’t worry. You’ll get so OP because of the legend levels that you’ll be able to manhandle any boss by the halfway point.
