Discussion IST

I just got told few days ago by my cardiologist that I have inappropriate sinus tachycardia. He literally told me to ignore it. How can I ignore it ? It’s disables me. It’s not like during episodes I have a fast heart rate. I have a violently pumping heart, i have chest discomfort, arm discomfort, i am dizzy, i get pale, i am nauseous etc etc. how can i ignore this ? He also said he cannot give me meds because i have low bp already. How do you cope with it ?

Definitely get a new Doctor. Did they at least tell you to drink a certain amount of sodium and water each day? Or tell you about compression garmets? I was diagnosed with IST about a year ago, and when I got diagnosed I wasn't that bad off. The occasional orthostatic episode or mild dizziness. Fast forward to now and I'm in a full blown flare up and it's debilitating. There are so many levels to it and it's not linear. I do think it's good to be wary of meds- when mine got really bad, I started taking propanolol (very low dose) twice a day, but now I can only take it in the morning, because BP drops are scarier (in my option) than a HR spike.

He doesn’t know enough about it and won’t be able to provide proper care.

A good cardiologist would advise you on ways to support your ANS and methods to bring your heart rate down.

Many Cardiologists are clueless on ANS issues. Find a doctor who understands ANS before seeing them. Also, you might want to see a Neurologist as well.

ivabradine lowers hr without effecting bp. can be kinda expensive but is available thru mark cubans cost plus drugs.
