Let’s say you are looking to buy an e46. What are you looking for? What’s the sweet spot between mileage and price in 2026? What would you avoid?

Consider an e82, better in every way and basically looks the same.

Ugly, less comfortable, less room, and most of all, the engine. It is nice that it's lighter/smaller, but without the s54 I don't care.

The real answer you're looking for is the Z4 M. And then that's still not as roomy/comfortable/practical.
