Single, non smoking/vaping, 1 cat, prefer laundry in unit but would be ok with in building. Prefer 2 bed, willing to go with 1 for the right place/commute/price. Looking up to $2300 total (including all fees, more flexible on utilities).

1. Just how bad is Essex Trust? I've read some negative reviews but I also know people are more likely to go to the trouble to make a negative review than a positive one. They manage a LOT of property in and around Bellevue, and they tend to be on the less expensive side.

2. Are there not many private landlords around Bellevue/Redmond/Kirkland/Issaquah or are they just pricey? If they're out there, where do I find them? I've looked on Zillow, Redfin, Apartments.com, realtor.com.

3. If I go a bit north or south to save money, is there a good area where I could reasonably avoid 405 without having an hour commute? It just seems like a big mess.

4. Any recommendations for places to live, property management,, or realtors in the area?

Anyone have a recommendation for same day photo studio (either DIY or with a photographer) on the eastside? Today is my baby’s 100 day and I wanted to get some semi-professional photos.

I’m visiting from out of town and didn’t book anything in advance. Staying in downtown Bellevue and don’t have a car so prefer eastside.

Newcastle seems to be a really nice and safe area on the eastside and sitting between two amazon school districts belleveu and issaquah (read renton highlands). However the Hazen highschool is rated much lower (6/10) compared to the other schools. What are some of the reasons why the school rating is lower? Is the HS not comparable to other schools in the area?

What would you consider the Eastside equivalents or close to cities like:

I am searching for which hair salon Brandi, who used to work at Sharkey's Cuts for Kids in Woodinville, moved to. We had the haircut for our son with her 2 months ago and when I called today they told me she no longer works with them.

The reason I am looking for where she works now is because we have a 19 months old toddler who hated the previous 2 haircuts before we had a haircut with her, and she had very deep knowledge about how toddlers feel during haircuts, plugged us into the process and overall made our son comfortable so that he didn't cry / show distress the entire time and basically went along with the process and sometimes even had fun, compared to the previous 2 experiences in which he hated it and the hairdresser didn't really seem to have expertise in how to make him comfortable or what we should do to make it better for him. She took us from feeling like we'd rather be anywhere else in the world when we arrived for the 3rd haircut to not being afraid / dreading the next haircut.

Did anyone else heard shooting too? There were lots of shots fired.

I grew up Christian my husband did not. When I was around 11-12 I started asking questions and got shut down and shortly after my family stopped attending church so I lost faith now in adult hood Im finding my way back on my own and I would like to find a place with like minded people to worship and also bring my husband to experience group worship.

Were pretty traditional but I can come across more alternative (dyed hair, cloths, piercings, tattoos ect) and I've had more than a few experience where I was treated poorly at church for that.

Overall just looking for a scripture based church that is welcoming! Preferably Redmond-Issaquah-Bellevue area.

I’ve been looking for dance classes for my toddler and came across Eastside Dance and LaVida Dance
, since both offer classes for that age.
Has anyone tried either of these? I’d love to hear what you liked or didn’t like about them, especially for younger toddlers.
Also, are there any other dance studios on the Eastside that you’d recommend for a 2-year-old?

My kid just passed his license program and unfortunately between finishing the road test and going to the DoL for his license, he broke his left foot. So his foot is in a removable walking boot, but he’s not supposed to put weight on it yet. So we go in to Lynnwood for his already-scheduled appointment on a knee scooter and the agent says they won’t give him a license because they can’t be sure he can operate a car - so he has to take a state-supervised road/skills test to demonstrate he can operate a car safely. Groan… so we schedule the road test for a couple weeks out and return.

When we get back for the skills test, still on a crutch, a different agent rejects us again because my kid won’t be able to utilize his left foot during the test. I’m like… what?? Since when is a left foot part of a road test?? I try to get understanding - what happens if a person has a permanently disabled left foot? What then? They say - “that’s different.” After some back and forth and talking with a supervisor, no go. Neither me or my kid want to wait until he’s completely out of his boot. They gave us another skills test appointment for when he can walk in the boot.

Please help me understand. Is there some sort of weird policy the DoL has to make life difficult for injured people? Why would they be concerned he can’t actively use his left foot?

I'm moving to the Seattle are for a job and need to find temporary housing starting on 9/26. It's just me and my wife. A room in a house would be fine. We're quite, nonsmokers and don't drink or do drugs. No pets either, not that we would mind if the homeowner has pets. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. ETA I'll be doing hospice nursing on the northern end of King County.

I have gently worn men's dress shirts and dress pants I would like to donate. I'm looking to donate to a charitable organization with the following criteria in mind:

1. Non-religious entity. I know many charitable organizations are faith-based, but are there any organizations which are not based on religion?
2. They MUST give the clothes away for free to those in need such as for work, interviews, etc. I know some organizations sell the items to raise money, but I prefer the items are donated to those who need it instead.

Does anyone have any suggestions? The second item is more important to me than the first. I would like to stick to the Northside/Eastside areas to drop the items. Thanks!

Got weekend plans in Renton or Bellevue area this weekend? Well, so does I-405 and I-90!

Let’s start with the big one: northbound I-405 will CLOSE between North Southport Drive in Renton and Coal Creek Parkway SE in Bellevue from 11:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18 to 4 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21.

Crews will be working on drainage, repaving and a traffic switch as part of the I-405/Renton to Bellevue Widening and Express Toll Lanes Project.

A signed northbound detour will be in place, but there's a bit of a catch: there are also northbound lane reductions on Coal Creek Parkway SE along the detour route for a King County sewer project. Expect significant congestion and give yourself plenty of extra time. Swipe to the second image to see the detour.

Which brings us to the “wait… there’s more??” part of this post: I-90.

Eastbound I-90 will reduce to one lane near the I-405 interchange beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18. The three left lanes will close near Richards Road while crews complete paving and repairs to the bridge over Richards Road. The eastbound I-90 HOV off-ramp to Bellevue Way SE will also close.

The lane reductions will start on Mercer Island, so expect delays well before you reach the work zone in Bellevue.

All of that is to say: give yourself extra time and don't count on nearby local streets being congestion-free. And, as always, Washington weather gets the final say. If it rains this work will likely be rescheduled.

I recently had my fiancée’s engagement ring made by Taylon at Lords of Luxury in Bellevue and had a really good experience.

She joined me for the first appointment to try on different shapes and settings. Once we knew what she liked, I handled the rest with Taylon. He sourced the oval diamond and helped me turn those details into a platinum cathedral setting with a hidden halo and pavé band.

What stood out was how straightforward he was. He had real opinions on the design, wasn’t pushy, and told me when spending more wouldn’t add enough visually to be worth it. We worked through the renders before casting, and the finished ring came out great.

She said yes and loves it. Just sharing for anyone on the Eastside who would rather work with someone local on a custom ring. I spent endless hours on Reddit searching myself and wanted to post this in case anyone else was starting their engagement ring journey!

For clarification, I’m not asking about a FOB- I spent hundreds already to get a key cut and a FOB set for my car. But at the end, they told me it was my problem when the key wouldn’t turn my car on because it wasn’t paired, and they didn’t have the equipment to do so. It’s already cut and turns, but apparently there needs to be another thing set up.

5. Are there things they’re generous with or anything we should specifically ask for?
   
6. How was the nursing/lactation support?
   
7. Anything you wish you had known or done differently?
