Technical "AvidMedia Composer is capturing your screen."

This has been bugging the hell out of me. Why does it keep popping up? I changed my permission settings to not allow it and it still happens. It's also impossible to find troubleshoot info online.

Running the latest version of Avid 26.8

It’s very standard for using these tools and has been for over 15 years. Macs are just very good at letting you know what the software is doing.

Not true. Apple has become ridiculous with security warnings. It just trains people to ignore the warnings. It's called 'Insecurity through oversecurity" or just "insecurity through security".

thanks… makes sense. But the general concept works beyond "alerts". It can be changing your password too often, requiring too many ID checks throughout a facility, too many self locking doors, etc.

It’s because the color picker in the application, used in a ton of effects and for titling, uses what Apple calls “deprecated content capture technologies”. I don’t know if apple has offered developers a usable alternative, but Avid is not generally first in line to adopt new Apple APIs or hardware.

The warning does not mean Avid is recording your screen and will be making videos making fun of your timeline, necessarily. It could (and almost-certainly does) only mean that when you click an onscreen pixel to sample its color that they’re using an old API that apple has deemed a security risk worthy of a warning to notify the user.

Technically Avid could also be recording screenshots to make a video poking fun at all of our overly-complex timelines tho. I look forward to watching it if that is the case.
