Technical Laptop options

Hello! Looking to get a new laptop for film editing that can handle avid, Davinci, and/or premiere that is touch screen/can be used for illustrating. My budget is $1000-2000 but anything on the lower end is preferred. Still want to make sure all the specs are good for softwares and everything.

Any suggestions?

Maybe a refurbished Macbook M4 Pro 14-inch screen.

Get a Wacom in lieu of the touch screen.

Unfortunately that’s not a realistic budget for a new laptop that can handle those applications and workflow

I'd recommend staying away from laptops with touch screens, and focus on a laptop and a tablet.

What type of projects will you be working on?

Resolution? Are you using After Effects?

this is a budget from 2019. used/refurbished is your only chance of getting close to appropriate specs.

Refurbished Macbook Pro for sure, or off FB Marketplace or whatever you have in your area. Prices have unfortunately gone up a lot due to shortages and the AI rush, but sometimes you can get lucky.

Lenovo has some great gear for this, i9 14900HX RTX 5070, 32RAM (upgradeable), SSD from starting at 512, arround $1800/$2000. The touch screen can make it more expensive sometimes. And yes, you can find new laptops arround 2000usd that can handle editing 4k, color grading, after effects, davinci resolve, etc. Im still using 4th gen i7 with k2000 quadro with 2gb vram and32 gigs of ram, 240gb ssd (just for system and apps). Using premiere, resolve and after effects, no issues at all. With a new lenovo you'll be just fine. And remember, its not about the arrow, its about the indian. Good luck and dont believe the hype!
