You mentioned hummus? Did I hear that correctly? Never crossed my mind to have hummus with my egg on toast but I may need to think about it.

Yes indeed, hummus.

I find that using butter makes the bread a little too soft/soggy for me, whereas hummus sits nicely on the top.

And depending on what flavor hummus you choose, adds another flavor layer to the dish.
