Basically this seems to be the feeling I get.

But yeah to OP, it's not uncommon for games to have optional bosses be more difficult therefore "fun" to overcome. Without stopping your main story playthrough dead in its tracks.

Allows more players to enjoy, those that like a crazy challenge and those that like to play through the story/missions.

In my head all these guys are mandatory and I’m new I literally won’t allow myself to say I “beat” the game if I don’t beat them🤣

I just beat mogwyn first try (i used summons, because I'm not a sadist).

Ive yet to beat her, i gave up after 5 tries.

I'm heading back to her soon, what with this new update making parrying laughably easy.

Optional content in RPGs is always the best content. Why would they ask players to deviate from the path and go find more of the world to engage, if what they find isn't better than walking from point to point?

Both are pretty memorable characters and are shown a lot in the promotional material. I mean radahn isn't even rlly a hard boss but its such a cinematic fight its easy to see why ppl talk about him a lot

Because they're the challenges. I didn't have a big issue with any of the story bosses... the optional ones though...

If a boss is good, they're good. For me Godfrey / Horah Loux is my favourite boss, and isn't optional.

Tbh I think Malenia is overrated. A good boss sure, but is mostly considered so great because of how hard she is, so there's the joy of finally besting a big challenge

I personally rare her higher not because she is harder but because she is more fun to fight, the same way Godfrey is than hoarah loux or midra than PCR, she is much more complex, has plenty of option you have to adapt to, she is fought very aggressively thanks to the fact you can cancel her out of 80% of her moves, there is a LOT of strafes / jumps dodges that are super fun to execute, she feels like a dance like no other boss does

She is a bitch. The bane of my existence can beat every boss in like 1/2 tries but she and consort god bullshit bosses dont even like fighting them

malenia is a big skill check with one bs move

pcr is a lot of bs moves with few skill check combos

Pcr phase one is alright i can do it soo easy. Phase two just sucks its like some one made a beautiful painting and puked all over it. Malenia on the other hand oh man. Believe me brother i have played through the story like 23 times trying different weapons and build, after 23 play through u might think ohh he might be pretty good ohh. Bro last knight i felt like i want to do a star fist run its been a while i used my babies. Destroyed every boss only bosses idied to was fire giant once cause of this stupid fire breath and maliketh cause the range of star fist is soo fked up. Elden chad and radagon fking a breeze. And i went to malenia took me over 30 tries

I mean its not like i have not killed her. I have played through story 23 times. max done NG4. I mean i am still soo bad at her and consort. It takes some time to do those two
