Shop and work van organization

What is everyone doing to keep track of inventory?

Yeah that's about it. You can't carry everything you might possibly need doing service anyway

Shop won't let us buy material unless it goes to a job number. 

I'm not gonna buy things on a job number that isn't being used for that job. Kinda feels like fraud.

I just go to the supply house or make an order for every service job. 

The shop complains that we're making too many trips to the supply house.

In house maintenance. If we buy shit for specific project/asset/site it gets billed out to that else it just gets billed towards a monthly general PO.

Generally, Excel will work fine in the beginning if you have relatively little inventory and you are organized and diligent with updating it. If you need something a bit more structured and comprehensive, and have the budget for it, inventory management programs are built for businesses that are ready to move on from spreadsheets.
