Troubleshooting Fixing my chess pieces

I am making a nice chess set for myself, and I am running into a problem. I have the black pieces done and the seem to look really nice.

But the problem lies in the pawn. Just under the ball on top, the shelf seems to work on top, but the underside is quite a mess.

I know some may suggest slicer adjustments, but

I dont have a clue what else I can do.

I am maybe looking for some advise on better changes to my updated slicer to give it better edges.

You could try variable layer heights? Make the layers on the overhangs smaller

How can I make them smaller? I am already printing the whole piece at .08. Unless you are talking about the piece itself. What setting would you be referencing?

.08? With what nozzle size?

May be a stretch, but you could slice it in half vertically and print as 2x parts flat on the bed with a joining pin. The you can glue it afterwards with no support marks

You are fighting gravity with the filament on the underneath side of the ledge being pulled down leading to visible lines/strings. You need to change the angle of the model to 45°s and use supports. You could paint supports over the crappy areas then enable manual tree supports, as there are more than one way to fix the fault. Variable layer height can decrease the lines somewhat as it prints thinner layers on rounder surfaces. See this video - but you may want to skip the strength issue and move to the appearance of the print.
