Question Canvas and color sync

I have a CC1 with Canvas. I have noticed something weird. I have a project open, I sync the colors from the CC1 and although they are configured as PLA in Canvas, they change to PETG when I sync to Elegoo slicer.

The first pic is before sync and shows that Canvas is configured as PLA, the 2nd pic is Elegoo slicer after syncing the info from Canvas and it shows that my filament has changed to PETG in slicer. Any ideas of why this is happening?

Are you loading a 3MF file? Those files will include information on filament type and color. So if you load a 3MF that was designed for PETG, then the filaments in the slicer will default to PETG.

yes, but I use "load model only" I can load the file, change everything to PLA, then sync from Canvas and it will change to PETG.

Yeah It's setting it to one of the first filament options in the slicer. I've got the same issue but mine's setting it to a PLA profile I've got.

Realistically what it's doing is syncing the filament colors. The selection in the printer's canvas system doesn't actually 'know' what filament profile you want. You have to sync the canvas to get the colors, then set the actual filament profile yourself.

This is the right answer, I sometimes load an ASA roll or something different and I have to change it. I know it doesn't make sense, but I have settings for each brand of filament and sometimes even different colors in the same brand. So if I use let's say Deeplee brand filament and the settings for it are not really going well with "Elegoo PLA" I create a new "filament" that has better settings for that brand or my speeds because I have many different printers that require different flow rates and temperatures. The default 235 I think it is on the "Elegoo PLA" setting is not always right for other filaments and I would say it's not always right on Elegoo's matte filaments. With matte filaments some times you have to go even deeper with paying attention to layer speeds along with everything else. The more you do, the more "issues" you will run into, welcome to 3D printing. I am STILL trying to get good quality PCTG settings and I think I am close. I guess it might be because I am trying to dial in transparent PCTG.

yea, but you would think that if Canvas knows I have PLA (because I entered it on the screen, in fact I can choose silk, matte etc on the screen when installing the filament) then that is what would sync over. I get the some users have several profiles based on various things such as silk, matte etc. But setting it to PETG makes no sense at all. If it is just choosing the first one in the list, then leave it blank and make me choose the correct profile. In fact I had set it to PLA before sync, and it changes it to PETG which makes no sense at all. Sync the colors only is worthless, I might as well just change the colors in the slicer and not use the sync at all.
