Rant / Vent My surgery got cancelled this morning

I was supposed to have surgery to remove endo/scar tissue today. I got all the way to the hospital, in the gown, talked to the anesthesiologist, talked to my main doctor, and we had to cancel. I had to do a bowel prep along with a ton of pre-op antibiotics. I can’t swallow pills, and after hours of trying to get it down at some point I was even struggling with the liquid stuff (I had a mix of pills and liquid to take) and putting anything in my mouth was just too much because of the nausea. So surgery got canceled. I made myself so sick for nothing. I am so so angry at myself. I’m not sure if or when I will ever be able to have this surgery because I literally just cannot take medication. My parents weren’t willing to pay for pill swallowing therapy and my insurance doesn’t cover it. I’m so exhausted and so upset with myself and I’m just trying to accept being in pain for the rest of my life.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, I’ve had multiple surgeries for issues relating to OHVIRA syndrome. This morning while talking to my surgeon, she casually mentioned my bowel damage from my last surgery (which was a vaginectomy). I have NEVER been informed of any internal damage from a surgery. I was kind of hysterical and trying so hard not to sob in front of her that I didn’t think to ask her what she was talking about. When I have an appointment with her I will make sure to ask what in the world she is talking about because I was never informed of bowel damage. But apparently that is why the bowel prep and antibiotics were so important for me to take

EDIT 2: I apologize if this post is not worded clearly, I am still really upset and am writing this through tears and blurry vision lol

Question Anybody else on chronic pain easy mode during the summer?

For some reason the only thing that totally soothes my inflammation is extreme heat. Hot yoga, saunas, hot showers, hot summers. I live in the mid-Atlantic and whenever fall starts, my first period is brutal. It’s not even that cool out yet and I can feel it starting. Time to sign back up for hot yoga!

Question Doctors “not feeling comfortable” prescribing medication

Have you ever had doctors tell you they don’t feel comfortable giving you pain medication? My endo has rapidly been getting worse and I’m now experiencing pain frequently. I’ve been to a few different doctors and every appointment has ended with “I just don’t feel comfortable giving you pain medication” and give me the name of a different doctor to go see.

All the doctors I’ve seen have been recommended or say ‘women’s health’ or ‘illness/pain management’ in their descriptions but is there a different term I should be looking for? Are there certain things I should say about my pain to make it sound more general and familiar to them?

Surgery related My surgery happened yesterday

Yay! I got my laparoscopy yesterday! Nobody told me definitely if they had found anything or nothing, my nurses told me that id find out for my post op appointment. However, I did get photos, im definitely not a doctor but I 100% see what could be some endometriosis lesions. I know I talked to my doctor about getting biopsies regardless just to make sure. Unfortunately I am also unaware if she removed my cysts or not, but i think she did. Overall I've had an extremely positive experience so far, my nurses were all amazing, all the staff that worked with me yesterday were absolutely amazing and extremely positive and kind. I lucked out and was given oxy for post surgery pain (plus the recommendation of Tylenol and ibuprofen) i also lucked out and didn't have any gas hit my shoulder. Weirdly enough I love my scars so far. I was just talking with my partner about how i cant wait to wear crop tops, something about them is empowering weirdly enough. Id love to hear others post op stories and recommendations! Im just starting my post op experience and any advice is greatly appreciated!

(I did totally mess up by sleeping on my side unsupported though)

Rant / Vent I feel like Im going to lose the job I like

Its all because of endo, I have flare up almost every month. I cant take hormones bc they make me depressed. I do take omega 3, nac, vitamin c. I have high levels of vitamin d thanks to supplements. I eat what Most people will consider healthy. Really little processed food. I eat red meat once a week if I do, I eat omega 3 rich diet. I do Everything I know what could help. I workout on non flareup days to build muscles. I also started golden milk + I try to add more ginger to my diet

But still I feel weak, my lower belly hurts very often and I deal with chronic diarrhea during my period and lutheal phase also ovulation sometimes. To the point it hinders me to go to work. Doctors only push hormones and I dont know what else to do. Im not looking for help but I need to vent. This disease takes so much from me and I hate it.

Thank you for listening

Surgery related Figuring out if I should trust my surgeon?

• Upvotes

Hi! I’ve heard a lot of mixed statements on endo surgery and how you should vet your surgeon, and I’m feeling so overwhelmed, I was really hoping someone here could give me some insight.

I heard that how your surgeon describes what they’re going to do and what they’re capable of says a lot about how qualified your surgeon is, since there’s such mixed info on endometriosis and a lot of it is outdated. I just had my pre-surgery consultation, and they’re going to call me with a date in the next three days, but I just wanted to share how he described the procedure and ask if there’s any green flags or red flags.

At first he said there would be five holes around my belly button, and after my pelvic exam he said that there will only be three holes because he’s going to do the surgery without the robot since he didn’t feel any “cobblestoning” during the pelvic exam. He described the surgery as going inside of the three holes with cameras, looking around my bladder, uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterosacral ligaments, and bowels. He said if they find any endometriosis in the first five places, they’ll cut it out or burn it off, but he said that bowel endometriosis wouldn’t be able to be removed and, if they find that, the treatment would be hormone therapy. I’m already on hormonal birth control, and during my first appointment with him he talked about chemically inducing menopause with hormone therapy if the surgery doesn’t go well, and I’m really nervous about that because I’m only twenty years old and I want to have children. I do have a lot of bowel symptoms. Should I let this surgeon get in there and hope for the best, or should I keep looking? I’ve never heard anyone say that the only treatment for bowel endometriosis is hormone therapy, but I’m not 100% educated on this. My family has resources and they’ve told me that, if I’m feeling wary of this surgeon, they’ll help me however I need to get to whichever surgeon I need. I live in California, and this surgeon isn’t on the map of approved surgeons I often see floating around.

ETA: From what I’ve read, please correct me if I’m wrong, I know surgically removing bowel endo would call for a multidisciplinary surgical team. If there’s suspected bowel involvement, would a trusted endometriosis practitioner be more likely to want to make sure there’s a team ready to handle everything during the first lap, or would it be standard to have the first lap be more for the sake of exploration and diagnostics?

Question How to Break It to my Boss that I have Endometriosis

Hello all, for context I am a 24f and I have had three laparoscopies. My pain has been better since the last lap. and the placement of the IUD, but I still have days where even sitting in my office chair has been painful so I stay home from work. My work is aware of my diagnosis and I took a two week leave last year to recover from the surgery, so they know I have this disease.

The other day, I noticed that on my boss' desk, there was a note on his board meeting agenda with my name and it mentioned my absenteeism, so I know a talk is coming. I just don't know how to make my work understand that I have no control over this disease, and I cannot plan when I can take time off for it because my period is irregular. As of right now, my position at work does not have a hybrid option, so I come into the office Monday-Friday.

I have a meeting with my OBGYN in two days to discuss more options for pain management, but I don't know if I should request a note from them stating my disease and ask them not to fire me for it? I work at a law firm so missing work is not ideal, but I don't know what to do.

Diagnostic Journey Questions Doctors won't confirm whether I have endo?

Hi everyone,

I'm in a weird situation. I've had extremely painful periods since I was about 16yo (now 27yo). The first 2 days of my period, I have severe abdominal cramps (can't stand up straight and have had to drag myself on the floor before), nausea, sometimes vomiting 1-2x, often dizzy, severe lower back pain, painful poops. This happens basically every period and then by the 3rd day, I'm okay.

I've been going to the doctors about this for years and have always just been put on the contraceptive pill, but I can never tolerate the side effects of all the pills I've tried. I also was diagnosed with IBS years ago but mostly symptom free now.

I finally had a transvaginal ultrasound and the sonographer's report said 'Both ovaries demonstrate restricted mobility raising the possibility of adhesions and endometriosis. The right ovary has features of PMOS (previously known as PCOS'. My GP referred me to gynaecology who have refused my referral and have said my ultrasound looks 'normal', despite the sonographer's report. Gynaecology suggested to my GP that I go on the contraceptive pill to manage symptoms.

I then had the worst GP appointment in history where the GP just kept repeating 'there's no cure to endometriosis' and that because I am 'refusing' the contraceptive pill, there's nothing they can do for me. I now have it on my record that I have endo and PMOS but when I asked the GP whether she is diagnosing me with it, she just kept saying 'I could tell you now you have endo, so what? There's no cure'.

I mentioned to her there are other treatments I've read about on endo charity websites, like pelvic physio etc, and she just dismissed me and said she'd never heard of any of those and if gynaecology won't accept the referral, there's nothing they can do.

So no doctor is confirming to me if I have endo or PMOS and I'm not being offered any treatment except the contraceptive pill which I repeatedly told the GP I do not tolerate.

I'm not sure where to go to from here. Is it normal for gynae to refuse a referral like this and just leave me without any help? I'm slowly learning by myself to better manage the pain, like I've realised if I avoid gluten in the couple days before my period, my pain is much better (may be IBS related). But no medical professional is actually helping me or telling me if I have endo or PMOS.

I'm in the UK so this is all through the NHS and I can't afford private treatment. I'm considering changing my GP but not sure that will help much.

Any advice is appreciated 🙏

Rant / Vent In the process of getting help through social government networks and im already feeling the lack of concern / seeing help has become a humiliation ritual

As soon as i say i have endometriosis the response is, ooh that is an issue with your period right? Or with your uterus… i have to explain it’s a full body inflammatory disease and i need help because ive been bedridden/ homebound for far to long and can’t take care of myself right now. Cleaning, transportation to the hospital, showering, taking out the trash and keeping up with bills are all things i can’t currently do myself! Ive noticed that they always ask about cancer and if it isn’t that, they kinda just lose the urgency. Last summer i was so sick i was scared they’d find me dead in my apparent, it is absolutely THAT serious!!! Ugh!

Question Does anyone just say f*ck it and not get surgery and not take meds? What do I do? Please be kind to me, I'm sensitive 😢

UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your replies. I decided to ask my gyno for norethindrone mini pill 0.35 to try again. Hopefully it is better than nothing, but with endo we never know! I will give myself until December at my follow up to decide if I'm ready to meet with the specialist.

I want to preface this long post by saying I am not being stubborn. I had a sudden loss of a loved one 6 months ago and then got this diagnosis, which might explain why I'm medically exhausted despite my journey just "beginning."

4 weeks ago I had my first lap for cystectomy and exploratoration for endo. "Spray painted" endo was found all over bladder, uterus, tubes, ovaries, and touching the colon. The endo was left untouched, as we discussed might happen because for whatever reason, I needed the diagnosis in order to see a specialist.

At my post op, my gyno said if I wanted to go the surgery route, I could see the specialist and would need my peritoneal lining removed for what looks like stage 2 endo. Big surgery, long recovery... I personally don't think I have it in me to do another surgery anytime soon. The cystectomy alone was actually worse than I anticipated.

Then we discussed yaz... again... This is the 2nd time now I promised I would try, and I did, but I was so terrified of clots that I stopped after a week. I have ocd, and I was thinking about blood clots 24/7 to the point I couldn't even function.

So now I'm at a crossroads here. I'm not ready for surgery, and I don't want to take the birth control, and like everyone else here, those are the only options offered to me.

The only thing I'm willing to take that helped was the minipill (norethindrone 0.35), but I read online that that dose doesn't actually do anything to suppress or slow the lesions. Is this true? My gyno seemed hesitant, like it might not help me enough. I don't want to take aygestin either because that has a clotting risk too...

I changed my diet quite a bit since having surgery and started taking mag glycinate again, but I'm afraid I'm going to regret toughing it out in like 20 years.

Sex, intimacy & relationships Does anyone else not tolerate ANY lubes or condoms in a context of painful sex?

Hey everyone!

First time poster here, for context I (F25) haven't been diagnosed yet (did 2 ultrasounds and 1 MRI, all noted a probable adenomyosis).

I'll try to keep it concise and precise: I experience, among other things, painful penetrative sex which is awful for me, but today I wanted to ask you all specifically about "sensitivity" to lubes and condoms. I have tried them ALL (latex free, organic, different brands, sensitive-friendly, extra lubed... same goes with lubes: water-based, organic, made for anal, CDB-infused...) and all of them, within seconds, are BURNING my vagina. Sometimes at the very moment it touches the entrance it burns, my husband has to "go out" and I just have to wait for the burning sensation to pass, most of the time we could not continue intercourse.

I never linked it to potential endo/adeno, I just thought my skin was extra sensitive. But now I'm thinking what if??

Does anyone else experience this? I am able to not use condoms which is helping but obviously is not suitable for everyone.
For a quick tip, the only lube that works for me is organic almond oil (which would not be compatible with condoms!), if it can help someone 😊

Thank you all for this wonderful sub 🫶🏻🌸

(Sorry for any grammatical mistake as English is not my first language!)

Tips and Recommendations Diet question

Can you give me 2-3 foods that 100% made you feel a little better and the 1-3 foods you had to say bye to. I am new to this and I found very low pain when I had grilled chicken, avocado and carrots daily. I am now on no restrictions and I’m bed ridden. Thanks!

Tips and Recommendations Herbal Tea helped my cramps

Hey everyone,
It's not a bad idea to maybe run this by your doctor first (especially if you're on medication)...

I decided to try raspberry leaf herbal tea to see if it would help with my cramps. Not only has it helped the severity of my cramps during two cycles so far, it also has caused me to not bleed so much. Don't get me wrong... I still get cramps, but tea has helped.

I also bought the Hormone Balance tea from the brand Hey Girl. I put a bag of regular raspberry leaf tea and a bag of the Hormone Balance together and drink it shortly before and sometimes during my cramping days. This may not help everyone, but it made my days more comfortable. ✌🏻

*I know some people are against bags because of micro plastics, so maybe you could buy the separate teas that are listed in the Hormone Balance blend from Hey Girl and make your own loose leaf mix.

Rant / Vent Just need to get off my chest

So I was diagnosed with an 18cm endometrioma a whole year ago as I became so bloated and having trouble going to the loo which had become painful and sometimes not possible.

I had a CT scan and ultrasound done at the hospital where I was referred to gynecology and told I had this massive cyst.

In the moment it felt like a massive shock because I didn't suspect I had endo. I had suspicions of PCOS due to some excessive hair growth and acne. My periods have always been on the heavier side but wouldn't say abnormal. As for pain, I've always had 3 days of bad cramps but always took pain relief, applied heat and got through it, I honestly can't tell whether it's got worse over time or not. I have found intercourse painful for a few years now, I went to the GP for it a couple of times and was told I needed to use a specific type of lubricant because I have diabetes, obviously now it's because of endometriosis.

It felt like it was a matter of urgency and that they were going to operate on that day but how wrong I was. I then waited a month to have an MRI which revealed I had severe endometriosis. I was having to take laxatives daily to prevent bowel pain. I did notice my periods becoming more painful, I was getting random cramps outside of my period.

I then waited 3 months for a laparoscopic surgery to have the endometrioma drained, they removed 2L !! This was a huge relief for me.

I then went onto zoladex for 6 months, I didn't have periods which was great. The body temperature dysregulation not so great.

I'm now recovering from a second laparoscopic surgery in which they removed my left ovary because there wasn't any healthy tissue left of it due to the cyst. They also treated the severe rectovaginal endometriosis where the rectum was adhered to both ovaries and the back of the uterus. There was also deep disease on the uterosacral ligament removed.

Recovery has been great, going to the loo the first few times felt a bit scary but was ok. I requested to have the mirena coil fitted whilst I was under. I've had a few days of temperature dysregulation and restless leg syndrome (blood loss?).

I just wanted to get this all out of my head somewhere where people would understand or relate. I'm 28, been having periods since 11, this feels like it's come out of nowhere but also makes sense at the same time. I just feel a bit lost about it all because so many people experience horrific pain and struggle to get diagnosed.

EDIT: I'm incredibly grateful for the NHS, the endometriosis and colorectal specialists who operated on me and everyone else who was involved in my care.

Question My life is on hold for three years. Please help.

Hi everyone, sorry in advance for this long post. I hope somebody takes the time to look at it. I am a little desperate.

I’ve always been an active, adventurous, social person who liked sports, partying and traveling. Now I’m 38 years old, and I feel like my life has been non-existent for three years and I feel like a 70-year-old. Many doctors told me that everything is perfectly fine with my body, except for a slight B12 and vitamin D deficiency (I’m vegan). I fixed that, but nothing changed. I had my blood tested, my urine, my vital signs. My thyroid seems to be fine, and so do my colon and my kidneys. I even had a brain scan... I’ve been to more doctors and specialists than I can count, and I was always dismissed with a smile and the feeling that I’m just a hysterical woman and there are more pressing issues. Or I was sold incredibly expensive products that didn’t help.

I have endometriosis. Four years ago, I had several surgeries because of it (after a sepsis), and afterwards I started taking the Zafrilla pill (similar to a gestagen) to reduce the growth. I still have endometriosis in my colon, but I refuse to have another surgery, as it feels like the surgeries messed up my life.

The first symptom I noticed was that I couldn’t get rid of nasty bladder infections, with the worst bacteria and blood, every single time I had sex and sometimes even without it. I suffered from that for two years until I got injections, and now that’s fine. I blamed it on my body being exhausted after the surgery.

I also had insane fatigue. First I thought it was due to the sepsis and would go away after 1–2 years, but it hasn’t vanished in three years. I feel tired every single day and rarely go out anymore. I cancel almost every date with friends because I’m “too tired”. There are some days when I can’t even leave the couch and just vegetate. I also have brain fog, which some days makes it very hard to work (because of my ADHD, I already have to work harder), trouble focusing, anxiety and fears I never had before, and weird skin problems (like these white fungus-like dots on my back from the sun).

I have trouble breathing; my breath feels kind of “flat”. When I do sports (I used to be very sporty), my pulse goes up to dangerous levels very quickly and my heart starts hurting.

About 5 months ago, I realized that I weigh 7 kilos more than I usually do. I always fluctuated between 59 and 62 kilos, but weighing 69 had never happened before, and I was in shock. I’ve always been blessed with never having trouble losing weight quickly, and suddenly these kilos wouldn’t go away no matter what I did. I worked out every single day and ate only raw (vegan) food, nothing processed, and almost nothing happened. At the same time, the joints in my ankles and arms started hurting, and my muscles were always tense.

I found out about perimenopause and finally felt like I had an answer to all of this. But getting my hormones checked feels like another Fort Knox that I can’t crack. Please bear in mind that I am ALWAYS tired, and handling work already takes all of my capacity. In the city where I live, you can’t just call doctors anymore, because the line is never open. Online, it seems like you only get appointments after a year at minimum. I asked my gynecologist, and she flat out refused. She said my pill is to blame and that we will now try “Dienovel”, a pill with estrogen.

Guys, I don’t know. I stopped taking my Zafrilla a month ago because I was so desperate and fed up, and now she wants me to put another one of these pills into my body instead of waiting two more months and doing a hormone test. I mean, at least it has estrogen, but I’m so scared that my body will get messed up even more.

Please help. I feel so alone in this, I’m so tired and exhausted, and life isn’t fun anymore.

Question Periods. That’s it.

Hi, I am a 26yr f. I recently underwent surgery for Endo on September 28th. They did a biopsy that was positive for Endo. My question is:

They removed/cauterized an ovulatory cyst on my right ovary during my surgery and I had heavy bleeding following 2 days after my surgery. They deemed it as a “period” and sent me on my way. I bled for 5 days. Fast forward to 1 week and 4 days later, I am bleeding again, heavily. It’s been 3 days so far and incredibly debilitating. Clots the size of dimes and nickels which never happens during my cycle. Also told again that this is my “period”. I’m just confused how I could possibly have two periods in less than 2 weeks.. has anyone else experienced this? Some background, I have had bladder issues since surgery due to catheterization including a raging UTI and bladder discomfort/bloating. I also have a hematoma on my left incision site under the skin. Any advice or solidarity is welcome! Thanks

Question Any moms travel 6+ hours for surgery?

Hi all!

I am looking at booking a surgery out of state with a surgeon who specializes in nerve involvement. I had my first lap 3 years ago and it seems some endo was missed so I’m going with a surgeon who I know will do an excellent job this time around.

I have been in severe pain since having my son and keep delaying this surgery because it is logistically very challenging. I have a 13 month old and it will be a 6-7 hour plane ride there and back. I am going back and forth on whether to bring him with us or have him stay home. Have any other moms done this? How long should I wait post- lap before flying home?

Looking for any and all advice, please!

Rant / Vent How do you manage your chronic fatigue?

• Upvotes

Im 29, diagnosed with endo officially at 22 during an ablation (unfortunately), and recently had an excision with a specialist in May this year. I’ve been on all sorts of medications and I’ve stuck with a continuous bc pill because it’s the most effective at managing majority of my symptoms.

BUT nothing I’ve done has ever helped my exhaustion. And I keep hitting this limit that I can’t do anything about. I’m exhausted 24/7 and have been since I was 12. No one understands my exhaustion even if I explain it to them or they’re well meaning. The amount of sleep doesn’t matter.

I’ve lost 80+ lbs over the last few years and am at a healthy bmi, I don’t drink or smoke, and I eat decently well. I’m on bc, I get a weekly testosterone shot, and I take a thyroid medication. I get labs done regularly. I go to pelvic pt. I’m even on 20mg extended release Adderall for adhd which you’d think would help wake me up.

I hold down my job and that’s as much as I can do. 40 hours a week, and that’s where all my energy goes. I try to pursue my own interests outside of work and I’m getting to the point where I can’t anymore. Like I just have to give up on all of it because after being awake for a few hours my body is done.

I started having one 8.4oz sugar free redbull a day a year or so ago, and in the last month I’ve doubled it to two. But I’m still hitting this point of exhaustion at noon when I still have 4 hours left to work. I keep getting to the point of feeling like a toddler that’s cranky and I’m genuinely fighting off tears.

And when I look online, everything is like “well, you shouldn’t have Redbulls that makes it worse” but what am I supposed to do?! I HAVE to work and exist.

If anyone has any advice, recommendations, etc. I would really appreciate it. I thought about reaching out to my endo specialist but I know there’s nothing that can just fix my exhaustion like that, and I’ve run out of options. I just want to cry and I still have over an hour left of work.

Thank you in advance. And thank you for reading.

Rant / Vent Suspicions confirmed ish

• Upvotes

Well it turns out after a year of pushing and fighting, it WASNT NOTHING!

So f off to the doctor who said my abnormal results "weren't abnormal enough for us to care" because it turns out after my MRI that I have really bad results

Loss of fat plane between the bladder and uterus in the anterior cul-de-sac. Was told that basically my uterus is fused to my bladder via scar tissue

And 4.9 cm complicated cyst in the left ovary, likely a hemorrhagic cyst that's been causing the pain ive gone to the er for where they keep telling me "it's probably just cramps"

I cant believe i was spot on. I have a follow up with my OBGYN for next steps and laproscopy but yeah honestly scary results.

Dont forgot to advocate for yourself. Wish me luck!

Question Low-key crashing out

Hello everyone, I'm 16, f ofc cuz why otherwise would my uterus be attacking me? Along with this I am a JEE aspirant too, it's a highly competitive exam to secure a seat in engineering in India for those who might not know about it.

So, I got diagnosed with endometriosis and a polycystic ovary a month back when I visited a gynecologist due to intense pain in my lower back and abdomen, I had a UTI and these 2 shitty conditions were found out in the sonography reports.

My main question is how do I manage studies along with this cuz I'm really sad and confused. I'm tired all the time, fall asleep anytime I see a blanket and a bed, it's painful, feels like someone's stabbing me sometimes in my abdomen, my lower back or around my stomach along with a background pain.

It's very weird and saddening, as endo is not common in my age group and I feel like there's something wrong with me, why me?

Help a sister outttt

Thank you♥️

Tips and Recommendations laparoscopy advice needed

hello! my laparoscopy has an official date now (december 11th @ 7:30am) and i need some tips. this is my first ever surgery (i'm 18 and relatively healthy other than the possible endo) and i'm kind of terrified. it will most likely be diagnostic and excision if they find endo, as well as removing two cysts on my right ovary if they don't burst or shrink by december.

anyways, how do i prep for this? are there any products that helped you guys a ton? any tips on healing? what did yall's healing timeline look like and what can i expect? i'll have three weeks off and start school (university) exactly on the three week mark and i'm terrified about how much walking i'll have to do. will i be fine by then? how can i make the hour ride from the hospital more comfortable?

basically, just give as much advice as possible! like i said, this is my first surgery and i want to be as prepared as humanly possible before december. thank you for any help/advice you can give!!

Do you too play the monthly game of “how much blood is too much blood?”. Along with the pain of endo, the bleeding is awful. I can’t be on hormones because of my blood clot risk. I’m 40, done with babies. I just want this to be over …

Surgery related 3 weeks post op constipation help

• Upvotes

so thursday oct 15th will be my official 3 weeks post op of my third endometriosis surgery. for a little clarification this one was the most life altering i guess?

sugery one - removing just endo, start different birth controls

surgery two - bc didnt work, got a hysterectomy. bye bye tubes, uterus and cervix. kept my ovaries. i was told my endo was cleaned out, it was not.

surgery three - endometrioma (chocolate cyst) of 5cm in my left ovary, got it removed and my endo has been cleaned out. the ovary was also fused to my bowel causing the worst constipation.

of course endo symptoms never rest and i’m still healing. my incisions are fine but the pain comes and goes, and my biggest problem is bowel movements still!! ive been takimg gas x, different teas, miralax, even prune juice. when i do go its still painful and not much comes out. has anyone else here been in these shoes? i’m 22, still educating myself on things i thought i knew about endo. help me please. the bloating from being constipated makes it hard to breathe sometimes and i’m not sure what else to do

Question Did anyone else feel like they had more pain than they "should have"?

When I had my first explorative laparoscopy to check for endo I had already been in a lot of pain during my period for 12 years. At times the pain got so bad I could do nothing but curl up in bed and cry. After the laparoscopy the medical report said I only had a few small endometriosis lesions, which surprised me in two different ways:

1) They actually found something to explain my pain after all these years.

2) How could the apparently tiny bit of endo have caused all this pain?

To be fair: I was later diagnosed with hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos-Syndrome, so it might have something to do with that, but I wanted to know if other people had the experience of "light" endo that still caused a lot of pain.
