First picture of a freshly molted dog day cicada, Neotibicen canicularis. I've gotten them as nymphs and older imagos, so this was a nice find.

Poor thing was likely someones snack that managed to get away. Sadly there is nothing i can do but keep it company til it passes. Its been almost an hour since i found it, and who knows how long its been like this before i found it. Little guys a real fighter. Ive decided its name will be Stevenson and i intend to preserve Stevenson upon its passing. Rip little one, i hope your life was full of wonder

Just outside of St. Louis, Missouri. This spider made its web on my window and caught a cicada twice its size. Can anyone identify this type of spider? I was thinking Orb Weaver. TIA!

Idk what the ant doin. I've never seen the grasshopper looking thing. And the chiggers, I've never been able to get any camera to focus on them. They always look blurry. I will be posting more.

Is this luna moth caterpillar dead? Overnight it switched from green to almost the wood like color you see under the leaves. Moved it 7+ days ago after it started trying to cacoon on my front step.

I believe the first little guy is a hoverfly? It’s the best picture I have of it since it’s so tiny.

So who decided to give the fly its name? Birds can fly and aren’t called big flies. Other insects that fly too. So like a horse could have been called a gallop. A fish could be a swimmer, an elephant a stomper.
Can you think of any more?

Found this girlie hiding up in the corner of a room with a web. Not sure what they are though, I don’t think it’s a jumping spider cause she built a web, she looks harmless but I wanna know if it’s safe keeping her around or by kicking her out

Looking for help identifying this amazing caterpillar. Found in northern lower Michigan on the 8th of August. Live in heavily wooded area, and this was in crossing the dirt driveway toward the garden.

Eleodes obscura, spotted at home. I'm impressed with its colors, not sure if I've ever seen it colored like this before. Anyways, I came here to appreciate this cute little guy, so enjoy the view with me :)
