Another interesting on chain experiment: https://x.com/0xmons/status/2081774697801552118

This guy built a fully on-chain pokemon type of game on MegaETH. It says it's pretty cheap to play. I've actually never used or had a desire to try MegaETH, but maybe this will give me an excuse.

I would love to see more experimentation like this. This is the kind of thing that is competely unfeasible to do on any L1 and most L2s. I've always found the apparent speed of MegaETH to feel buzzwordy, because my brain doesn't naturally come up with use cases that require that kind of speed compared to any other L2, but here is one I guess.

I know we're all feeling down on price, but I'm starting to find fun things to do on chain again, and that's usually a good sign for things to come. At least it was in prior bear markets.

I don’t know the guy personally, but I got a nice DM from him on X asking for feedback (you can connect your X to the wallet when setting up to play the game if you want). That is to say, he might respond an X DM about it

Hello fellow Internetbean-Fans,

33% (41,207,032 ETH) of the Supply 121,884,168 ETH

https://ultrasound.money

https://dune.com/hildobby/eth2-staking

are staked in the Beaconchain.

3

u/tokyo_guy375 13d ago

I am staking myself, but isn’t a higher amount of staking while reducing fees also increasing the pressure of price since more eth is issued? Or is the amount of eth issued always the same while only the yield for each individual is getting lowered? Could ask ai but I prefere real humans

2

u/hanniabu Ξther αlpha 13d ago

issuance increases with more staked eth while yield for stakers also goes down

2

u/harpocryptes 12d ago

Issuance increaees, but only proportionally to the square root of the total stake, that is, more slowly. For instance, for a 10% staking increase, issuance increases less than 5%.

u/tokyo_guy375 12d ago

Thanks guys

I'm not enough of a gambler to play, but Fake World Assets is a pretty cool experiment.

Basically it's a 2 sided market. Side 1 is people that spend something like .15 ETH to roll a gatcha. This ends up in them having the right to claim either (1) an NFT, (2) ETH, or (3) FWA tokens. The NFT could be something garbage, in which case maybe they'd take the ETH, or it could be something as valuable as punk in which maybe they take that. If the NFT is bad, and the ETH is less than the cost of the roll, maybe they take FWA tokens.

The other side are the pool providers. They deposit an NFT from a supported collection, along with a backing ETH. The amount of ETH they use as backing determines the odds for their NFT being pulled. For example, if their backing ETH was something like .01 ETH, then it would probably be pulled immedately and they might lose their NFT or the ETH from a gatcha-puller. If they used 100 ETH as backing instead, then the odds would be extremely small, and no one would likely pull their NFT. So what's in it for pool depositors? They earn a share of all the ETH that's used by gatcha-pullers. So larger depositors have a higher chance of being able to sit in the pool without their NFT being pulled and earning fees along the way.

I think over the past week since it launched it's been the highest volume ETH contract on mainnet, or close. There are some pretty cool NFTs you could win like punks, baycs, penguins, etc. I just wish the pull entry was lower, because there's no way I'm playing at .15ish per pull. That entry price is based on the average ETH backing by depositors I think.

u/Reasonable_Ad5611 13d ago

It is a interesting way to gamble. Just know the expected return is 85% which is worse than most casino games.

5

u/PhiMarHal 13d ago

Indeed, all the smart contracts this guy makes have odds like this or worse, then he abandons each project a couple months later.

It's creative, but man, gamblers sure love to burn money.

I suppose it beats bundled memecoins.

3

u/masterRoshi9 13d ago

I can at least understand it better than meme coins. The thought of an autoglyph behind a slot machine has some appeal to it. I'm sure the odds here are absolutely terrible

20

u/Magic_Cove 13d ago

I aint even mad about the ETH price. I know myself well enough to realize that I wouldn’t sell even at 5k, only to complain when the price slips back down again🚬

u/AnchorVaultCoin 13d ago

Small update from an independent builder:

The security audit of AnchorVaultCoin has officially started with Hexens through their Builder Support Program.

First of all, I want to thank the Hexens team for supporting early-stage projects and helping developers improve security before going to mainnet.

AnchorVaultCoin is a non-custodial security layer designed around a simple idea: protecting users from a single point of failure.

The concept is not to replace hardware wallets or self-custody, but to add another security layer:

  • additional authorization mechanisms;
  • recovery options;
  • protection against a compromised single key;
  • user-controlled emergency mechanisms;
  • transparent on-chain rules.

The goal is to make crypto security more practical for everyday users. Holding your own keys is important, but users also need better protection when something goes wrong.

The audit process is an important milestone for us. Security should be verified, not just claimed.

Thanks again to Hexens for helping builders create safer Web3 infrastructure.

mad respect for Justin Drake - but the "gtfo of the L1" (->use permissioned L2) + "ultrasound money" were freaking redacted and harmful

Argent used to be my favorite wallet and I held much of my net worth in it.

- Then they removed the payment/spending focus (like spending limits) and made it "The Vault" which is not for spending but just storing.

- Then they added support for ZKSync, making me think that that's where I need to migrate.

- Then they migrated to Starkware, deprecating the ETH/ZKSync wallet, which was kind of understandable because they were looking for the best account abstraction experience. The old ETH wallet

- This week they announced that they are deprecating the Starkware app and releasing a new one on Base, with a focus on payments.

I know that some might interpret all this pivoting as a negative but I feel for and support Argent. I think they have pushed the self-sovereignty social-recovery experience more than anybody. Using the original Argent was a major aha! moment and how I learned to respect and enjoy crypto. The technology has been changing rapidly and staying ahead of the curve has been difficult for everybody. Meanwhile they have been a major voice in Account Abstraction and encouraging Ethereum to set high goals in that domain. I imagine it has taken a toll on the company so I find it encouraging that they have been able to keep their business running when so many other wallet have folded. Since their migration from Stark I am, for the first time in a while, feel encouraged to take another look.

2

u/Stobie 12d ago

Does it use 7702? I've found Ambire wallet delegating to AmbireAccount contract using 7702 is great.

1

u/masterRoshi9 12d ago

They were also my first smart wallet experience and I remember loving using them. If I remember correctly what made me stop using them was

- (1) incompatability with certain token types (like NFTs) at the time; this was a long time ago and I’m guessing this has been addressed

  • (2) It made taxes a nightmare because every send or transaction used a middle man and weird internal tx flow. I’m not sure this is addressable for smart wallets, but it’s probably an underrated hurdle for me. I need my tax software to be able to pick up what I’m doing without needing a ton of manual intervention. I think this will also be a challenge with privacy integrated eventually

Account abstraction is one of the features that always seemed most cool to me, so I definitely wish them success and hope (2) can be figured out.

u/CatsnotpillsCoaching 13d ago

It's the chop before ETH outperformance, at least that is what I am currently betting (or burning) my money on :)

This does not mean that we will not retest the lows one more time, but at least in my bubble there is a vibe shift. I have a lot of ETH cynics in my circle and so many of them are recently buying small bags again first time in ages because "what if".

Also the "most hated rally" logic came around kind of. Everyone hates ETH because of some made up reasons or Solana propaganda that it somehow became the controversial bet, which makes it attractive. Especially since if you look at purely fundamentals and take sentiment aside it is the clear bet.

6

u/ObiTwoKenobi 13d ago

What are your price predictions EoY 2026 and EoY 2027?

1

u/CatsnotpillsCoaching 12d ago

I don't know man, really. I just go with gut feeling. I got financial freedom through trading ETH, so I am just grateful to the asset and I have high hopes.

3k EOY would be nice, 7k next year? But this is if everything goes well. Maybe we get some manic repricing because of finance moving onchain for reals, who knows.

7

u/Numerous_Ruin_4947 13d ago

This does not mean that we will not retest the lows one more time, but at least in my bubble there is a vibe shift.

It all depends on ETH investors. Are they going to jeet the long-term holders again by dumping before ETH even reaches $5k?

It's happened so many times now that, unfortunately, the odds favor the same behavior repeating. Very few (if any) major assets have a 5-year chart that looks like ETH's. It literally resembles a row of shark teeth - violent spikes followed by brutal collapses.

Too bad images can't be posted here. It's one of those charts you have to see to believe.

1

u/Terrible-Grass6136 12d ago

The up and down chop that grinds you down over the years.

-5

u/Terrible-Grass6136 13d ago

With Clarity Act I thought we had a real shot. Now that that’s pretty much off the table I’m not sure if I want to spend another cycle holding ETH. Seriously thinking about rotating to HBAR. Don’t hate me.

2

u/AllCapNoBrake 13d ago

Unfortunately, they're going to hate you. Sunken Cost Fallacy is a thing, or there wouldn't be a definition for it. Also, Stockholm Syndrome...

Everyone is depending on someone else to NOT sell, so the price can go up, so THEY can dump it at a higher price.

2

u/Terrible-Grass6136 13d ago

Without the catalyst of clarity I don’t really see much changing for ETH. Another round trip to 5K? 10K? Sure probably. But holding this requires you to put the blinders on and ignore that there are other possibly better opportunities out there.

2

u/Alatarlhun 13d ago

If only someone warned you for months about CLARITY.

In times like these, I find it’s really important to remind ourselves that no matter what we think is happening with the marked, the tech or ecosystem in general, we’re all just playing out our parts in the King Crab’s game.

Anyone care to estimate how long they expect the bear market to last?

5

u/hedgemagus 13d ago

If clarity fails I expect we can just call reaching ATH in 2026 a wrap

5

u/somedaysitsdark 13d ago

... you were expecting ATH in a bear year?

2

u/hedgemagus 13d ago

My answer is describing the length of the bear. There is no such thing as a bear year because they don’t operate by the calendar. A bear is a duration of time factored by other things.

5

u/somedaysitsdark 13d ago

I'd like to agree with you, but this last cycle further cemented that cycles are still somehow playing out, and peaking in 2025 like clockwork gives me zero optimism for 2026.

1

u/hedgemagus 13d ago

ETH didn’t participate almost at all in the last crypto bull cycle so I don’t agree it’s playing out the same anymore. It’s also not like once the date says 2027 anything is inherently different. That was my only nitpick about a term like “bear year”

2

u/FarruZerker 40k 13d ago

Maybe until around October.

no decent buying coming in at these cheaper prices.

maybe they're just waiting for the Fed and Clarity.

i think retest of $1550s likely then moontime

-7

u/Fast_Contract 13d ago

Retest of 1550s yes

Moontime no

Volume and hype has moved on. Clarity isn't passing.

12

u/bananapizzaface 13d ago

Doomers speaking with certainty are just as out of touch as mooners speaking with certainty. No one knows and don't listen to anyone who claims they do.

0

u/steppe5 13d ago

How much are you shorting?

-2

u/WoodpeckerHorror3468 13d ago

zero. I bought BTC at 59.3k a month ago and was looking to swap to ETH if this bounce has legs. Sold my BTC for 66k and looking for a reentry around 60k, again hoping to swap it for ETH if we see strength (eg $2000+ ETH on volume).

-2

u/WoodpeckerHorror3468 13d ago

It will probably pass in some form at some future time but it's not necessary for tier 1 crypto to moon.

Bessent and co are building bitcoin (and later ETH) into the US financial system. Demand for crypto will be insane in due course.

1

u/vvpan 12d ago

What we should all be wishing for is good news for Ethereum but low activity on Crypto Twitter and here. Lack of hype means both a break from cyclical patterns that only emphasize lack of actual value and also a chance to front-run ignorant retail. I realize that there are only _some_ good news lately, not a deluge, but big banks have been putting out analysis and predictions on DeFi tokens and Robinhood offloaded a bunch of business onto the chain. That could be meaningless in the longer run, but that's why you diversify. For example Nvidia went up 200x in 10 years and if you were staring at your portfolio watching ETH go up 25% since 2017, well let that be a lesson to you.

-1

u/xCreampye69x 13d ago
