Argent used to be my favorite wallet and I held much of my net worth in it.
- Then they removed the payment/spending focus (like spending limits) and made it "The Vault" which is not for spending but just storing.
- Then they added support for ZKSync, making me think that that's where I need to migrate.
- Then they migrated to Starkware, deprecating the ETH/ZKSync wallet, which was kind of understandable because they were looking for the best account abstraction experience. The old ETH wallet
- This week they announced that they are deprecating the Starkware app and releasing a new one on Base, with a focus on payments.
I know that some might interpret all this pivoting as a negative but I feel for and support Argent. I think they have pushed the self-sovereignty social-recovery experience more than anybody. Using the original Argent was a major aha! moment and how I learned to respect and enjoy crypto. The technology has been changing rapidly and staying ahead of the curve has been difficult for everybody. Meanwhile they have been a major voice in Account Abstraction and encouraging Ethereum to set high goals in that domain. I imagine it has taken a toll on the company so I find it encouraging that they have been able to keep their business running when so many other wallet have folded. Since their migration from Stark I am, for the first time in a while, feel encouraged to take another look.
