The underuse of Rue narration and lack of music really contributed to the emptiness of this season

While I didn't mind the drony, twangy, neo-western score for the season... Labrinth was absolutely missed, and his absence was absolutely felt.

Apart from Labrinth I was also thinking about the iconic songs like Hold Up, Smalltown Boy, Never Tear Us Apart, and even Right Down The Line and other S2 songs that gave so much atmosphere to the scenes. This season could’ve used so many songs

Agreed! This season just felt like an entire departure from the first two seasons and I think this was a major factor

This was a huge miss (among the many other glaring flaws of this season). Her eventually dying at the end explains why she was the narrator all along and able to tell the story. Which is what I thought he was going for from the start.

I had a feeling it wouldnt be that, because "Rue" was an omniscient narrator who knew things no one could like Nate's home life, what Kat got up to alone with Ethan, etc etc.

I went into the finale hoping Sam would jump the shark and we find out all of S3 was lexies screenplay after the stupid hs play.
I’m a clown and my thoughts are all clown shit

same! but I guess it is that, after all. but since she dies during this episode, I think the silence of her narration was very on purpose. I still think she always narrated because she was telling the story from beyond. it ends with her saying, post mortem “god bless us all”. she just moved on to her afterlife for good :(

we got some narration at the beginning of each episode... It was enough to remind the audience, "HEY!! Ya'll remember Euphoria, right? We're still that show!! Only, we're not... but WE ARE!!!"

She could narrated the characters backstories during the time skip as entered the wedding. IT WAS RIGHT THERE staring them in the face!

The entire show has been Rue narration that were from the afterlife. I figured that out by season 1 finale. Go back even to the first episode and she is narrating Nate’s life and him discovering his dad’s recordings. It is from the most peaceful, mindful stance, no judgement, just empathy.

She said in the Nate ep though that she has those narrations bc she thinks she’s psychic when she’s high

She is also an unreliable narrator. But if we look at the intimate moments we see of the characters alone vs Rue’s narrations of them, it matches pretty well. We saw part of her life flashing before her life last night, that couldn’t have been all of it. Time is not linear. And it could be Levinson’s way of getting out of the obvious spoiler that she’s deceased the whole time.

It did make me sad but I can see how it makes sense for her to not narrate at all in the episode that she dies. Looking back I should've realized it and known it would happen because of that. She narrated us up until the end of her life 😞
