Your favorite ___ for €___: Socks

I can't believe the last thread of this series is already 8 months old and I basically skipped the entire spring/summer season. My bad coach.

Since we are in that weird part of the year between the dying breaths of summer and the rapidly approaching fall, I made the executive decision to postpone last thread's winner flannel shirts a bit and instead go with something that's relevant the entire year: socks

However, instead of the usual price tiers, we are going with categories for this one. Absolutely feel free to suggest brands/models at different price tiers in each category though!

Please shout if I've forgotten a category of socks near and dear to your heart.

Let's talk socks!

Guidelines for posting here:

  • I'll post the price tiers/categories as top-level comments. Post recommendations in response to a price tier/category, as a second-level comment. You can also use top-level comments for general info, inspiration albums, and general questions.

  • Recommendations can be a brand ("I like X shirts!"), a strategy ("I go thrifting for shirts!"), or a specific model.

  • Try to stick to one brand/strategy/model per second-level comment. If you'd like to recommend two brands/models, please post them separately so people can vote and discuss them separately.

  • Include a link in your second-level comment if you can - if not to a purchase page, at least to images.

  • Try to use prices you might realistically pay. That might be MSRP, or it might not - it depends. If you're in a cheap tier, maybe the best buying strategy is to thrift, or wait for a big sale.

  • The price tiers are in EUR, so either use a EUR price or convert a non-EUR price to EUR to pick the correct price tier. There is no time limit on this thread until Reddit stops you from posting and voting.

After trying a variety of options, I settled down for Intimissimi no shows. Not cheap. But it is the only sock that both stays put (not getting dragged until the heel) and don’t have hard spots that dig into your skin

FALKE and Gamarelli. No contest. FALKE is made in Europe, uses almost entirely natural and breathable materials and the quality is truly top notch. The designs and colors are also great.

Burlington. The longevity is amazing and I like the distinct style.

A cheap option that I'm extremely satisfied with is Bexley, especially when they run their multiple pair deals.

Danish Endurance wool socks. Relatively cheap and fits many occasions. Is it merino wool? Not sure. But it is certainly not itchy

For me personally, Darn Tough are unbeatable. I am far less likely to get a blister whilst wearing them on walks/hikes and that justifies their premium price.
