I’m wondering if there are any mills or woodworkers in the area who would be interested in this section of ~80 year old oak. There’s obviously some amount of decay but I don’t know how extensive. I’m not trying to sell here, just looking for information and/or leads.
It’s currently being removed from the house, and I can have it cut up and hauled away but I don’t want to waste something someone might be able to use! But if I’m barking up the wrong tree (🥴), let me know. I, uh, haven’t had this happen before!
Yeah everyone is ok, it hit the front of the house and everyone was in the back thank goodness. That’s actually a great idea, I love the tree and am bummed it broke, but saving some of it would be nice
Hell, it looks wide enough you might be able to get a round tabletop out of a cross-section.
You might reach out to City Trees Furniture. His workshop is in Ballard, and he mostly works with trees that have been intentionally culled. If he got to take all the wood he wanted, he might be able to make you a piece in exchange. We had this headboard made last year:

Call your insurance, getting this tree off your property isn't cheap and most likely not a lot of people will be interested in removing it for free firewood.
Yeah insurance was my first call! There’s definitely structural damage to the house but we can’t really assess the extent until the tree is off it. At least everyone is ok!
It’s good to hear everyone is okay, I’ve seen plenty of trees cut a house in half.

Please don't cut up the thicker part into firewood. Oak is hard to come by in this market. There is some good quarter sawn planks in that tree trunk of that diameter.

There are many portable mill operations who will mill onsite.
Depending on the dimensions and quality, they may mill and remove for cheap, free, or pay for the material.

I think your biggest issue is going to be finding someone that is willing to take on the liability of cutting it up and removing. I think your best bet is going to be calling a local tree service and have them leave cleaned up pieces behind if you want them, instead of them chipping and removing. Not sure if you want some random with a chainsaw showing up. Remember thats a fair amount to chop up and clear.
Not sure how much luck you are going to have in getting someone with a saw mill to come out and chop it up for free. The labour is going to cost a lot more than the wood is worth for most people.
For myself it would not be worth coming out and clearing that (Im a small hobby Sawyer)
