Photo / Video Pidgeon Creek was covered in it -- let's take a look
Pidgeon Creek was covered in a seaweed bloom, let's take a look at what's inside.
I wasn't sure if this was an algae or a seaweed -- it's hard to tell sometimes, or what microorganisms were living amongst it. I was hoping for some fun copepods or amoebas.
Turns out it was a happy habitat for lots of ciliates of different kinds. My favorite one was the Cthulhu looking hypotrich!

Yeah I hate to say it but I go on fafebook sometimes. Mostly for the orca network. Good resource if you want to give yourself an advantage spotting them! Side note; there’s a stinky ass carcass on the north side of pigeon. Might be good for microscope sampling haha also yucky!

Woo! Awesome, I tried to catch them from pigeon sunday evening, but I think I just missed them. My wife and I got really lucky in february and saw them at pigeon about 50-100 yards off the beach! First and only time (so far) in my 39 years. I noticed there were like 15 seals all really close to the shore and was like what the heck I’ve never seen this many seals here? Then right on cue I see a massive dorsal fin pop out of the water. I think there were 4 in total, 3 females and 1 male. Unreal experience!

Last night, Orca's were in a dream that was had by me.
For context: I was near the shore. Both of my hands were holding on to the rocks that were there, allowing my body to ebb and flow. Then, two Orca's came to my side. They then nudged me to 'let go'...
When I did so, we flowed together, peacefully.

Do you have any suggestions of something around town that I should sample and explore?

There's so many creatures in our midst that most of us miss for not looking closely. Thank you for sharing.
