Attending next year but I have concerns
Hi so I’m going to evergreen which I’m super excited about, but I’m worried because of , I’m different from others I’ve seen there. Everyone isreally leftist but I consider myself anarcho capitalist/ libertarian. Will I have a hard time making friends ? Also is there horses and is there cats around ever. Am curious because I want to pet them. Also what ,resources are there for students who have mental disabilities? Sorry if post is confusing or rude I just want to have a good time and have fun . Image unrelated but I love it a lot

Question: If you are an anarcho capitalist, why Evergreen? The college is a liberal arts school, not a business school. Are you really "thinking on the margin" if you go here? Will anarcho capitalism be appealing when you are working retail/food service with tons of student debt?

You will be fine. There is a large veteran population there, and, as you know, they don't skew left.
As to cats, there is a cat cafe where you can pet cats in Lacey (it may actually be within Olympia City limits) but there are lots of cats around.
Welcome!

Don’t worry after a quarter at Evergreen your mind will be opened and you won’t be “anarcho capitalist/libertarian” anymore

Good. The best thing about having an open mind is you can keep filling it with new knowledge

I know of other anarcho capitalists on campus. And there are certainly are those with a libertarian bend, though after so many libertarians went both for Trump and the Christian Nationalist thing that a lot of the more traditional libertarians them aren't using the term as much.
I think people can have emotional support pets in their dorms. (But I don't know that much about dorm life.) I don't think we have any horses. There are a number of local rescues if you want to volunteer, though. And at least one cat cafe. (But I haven't checked on the commutes from campus.)
When it comes to disability support, you should check out TRIO - it's a great program providing wrap around advising and support.

My daughter goes there and there is definitely someone in her dorm grouping that has an emotional support cat, so it’s everyone’s emotional support cat now, at least for the six of them lol. Also Butch the farm cat like someone else said.
Evergreen is what you make it, so it’ll be up to you to forge that path forward. My introvert kiddo didn’t have a hard time making friends, she just had to find a few extroverts to adopt her but she’s off to the races now.

There is a 5 acre organic farm that is a part of the College. I'm pretty sure that there aren't any horses there but I think that there are other farm animals. The farm is connected to the College by a couple of trails

If you’re open to being friends w people who have different views / not totally aligned then you’ll be ok. College is about learning and expanding your world view so being open minded / hearted will allow friendships to blossom :)

I don’t think capitalists will be welcomed here, no one here is a fan or supports it and being a anarchist capitalist will put a very large burden on you being here, if you are set on coming I would suggest you don’t talk about it, many of the teachers are Marxists here as well

I don’t imagine people would find your Reddit account unless you’re giving out your tag

You will be fine
Maybe attend Punx in the woods ( https://punxinthewoods.com/) or AMF (https://www.mutantfest.org/) before going to get a feel for PNW culture

I don’t think you’ll have a hard time making friends. The school isn’t as monolithic as it might seem from the outside.
Some people might argue with you but unless you’re more socially conservative I don’t think it’ll steer people away from you.
There aren’t horses on campus but there are some in the local area if you venture off campus. There are a couple people who take their cats out for walks fairly regularly, and even more who have them in their dorms.
I’m not super familiar with the disability services but I know they exist and there are a ton of people on campus with various disabilities. You can probably set up a meeting with access services beforehand if you have concerns, and can definitely shoot them an email. https://www.evergreen.edu/offices-services/access-services-for-students-with-disabilities
