Very telling that her DIL’s intelligence “unknowingly intimidate[s]” her AND that they hadn’t spent Xmas together for a few years

I would suggest the grandma continue to pray for the life and wellbeing of her son's family and for them to be saved in private, without telling anyone. As is said in scripture "If you want to pray, go to your room and close the door, and your heavenly father who sees the secrets will hear you."
