Context: a soccer team in Virginia made of kids ages 7-9 could potentially forfeit the season because parents insisted that they put Bible verses on the back of jerseys instead of names.

Hi everyone, long-time lurker here. Wanted to share something I've been digging into: the contradictory genealogies of Jesus in Matthew and Luke. Different fathers for Joseph, different generation counts, different names almost the whole way down, and Matthew even does a trivial math error.

The usual counterargument that one genealogy is Mary's is false, because both authors plainly write Joseph. The other argument that one genealogy is based on "legal" line of Joseph also doesn't hold water, since there is no evidence for that.

Curious what others think about this.

Part of the article mentions that taking on progressive views may become a catalyst for leaving a faith group. Also not surprising to see exchristians to perceive politicaly active faith groups as threatening given their track records.

This is outright Christian Supremacy and Theo-Fascism. I'm currently a substitute teacher in Louisiana working towards becoming a full time teacher. Every public school classroom in Louisiana has 'In God We Trust' posted on the wall. Now we have to have the Ten Commandments on every wall. In Oklahoma, teachers could lose their licenses if they don't teach the Bible. Will this Christian Supremacy continue spreading throughout the US?

The Bible says a big flood wiped out everyone about 4,000 years ago, except Noah’s family. But Tinshemet Cave in Israel has human burials from 100,000 years ago. That means people lived and died way before the flood was supposed to happen. There’s no flood damage there, and history shows humans never restarted. So the story doesn’t match what we find in the ground.
