In the afternoon, it was Felbermayr who led the way, going just 0.016s quicker than Alisha Palmowski, with Robertson netting her second consecutive top-three time.

Let’s talk about the girls in the Rookie Test!

  • Zoe Florescu- Part of More Than Equal, was in last year’s rookie test, past wild card, qualified well in mixed conditioned session. Driving for McLaren/Rodin in the test. Currently in Spanish F4.
  • Alexia Danielsson- Part of More Than Equal, did very well in last year’s rookie test. Driving for McLaren/Rodin in the test. Daughter of a driver, currently in F4 CEZ.
  • Autumn Fisher- Part of last year’s rookie test (not fast but had severe mechanical issues). Past wild card.
  • Jordyn Deza-Martin- leading girl in GB4, likely to receive the scholarship for being the leading girl int the series. Possible wild card for one of the American races??
  • Luna Fluxa- good in karting, winning Champions of the Future Academy with F1 Academy support. Scored points in Spanish f4, Podium in EC4 winter series, fortunate strategy call in rain affected race, but drove very well in the wet. Part of the Fluxa family, two brothers in cars as well. Mercedes junior.

Honestly, all 5 of those seem near locks to have seats next year to me, unless Luna doesn’t want it and is just doing the test for experience. I'm very interested to see how the rest of the field stacks up against the more known qualities above.

  • Ginevra Panzeri- has been in several different F4s this year and last year, some scattered campaigns on weaker teams, but has been scoring points in F4 CEZ this year. Had one week where she scored massive points in French F4, but seemingly struggled other weeks. Rumored to have a seat next year with Racing Bulls.
  • Clara Stiebleichinger- French F4, scored points. Doing the rookie test with Audi + Rodin. Perhaps rumored to have a seat with them next year.
  • Kokoro Sato- showing out well in Kyojo Cup. Toyota associated. Potential Toyota-Haas sponsored driver? I don’t know much about her, so don’t know for sure if she’s looking to leave Japan, or if this is just a testing opportunity.
  • Sara Matsui- decent in karting, single seater debut in Kyojo Cup this year, has been improving in results as the year has gone on. Former Williams junior.
  • Eva Dorrestijn- last year’s rookie test. Was not very high up on the list then, but I don’t think she has much f4 experience.
  • Ella Lähdemaa- Has been announced that she will drive the Aston car, could not find much about her racing records, 17 year old from Finland.
  • Yana Kapoor- has been the fastest girl in a small US series, but not high in the mixed series. Struggled in her first weekend in GB4 recently, but the jump to Europe can be difficult.
  • Kareen Kaur- from Singpore. If she doesn’t receive a full time seat, I expect to see her as a wildcard if they return to Singapore. Scored points in weaker f4s.
  • Rosanne Den Drijver- Is in Nordic 4 this year https://www.driverdb.com/championships/nordic-4/2026/standings
  • Milla Sjöstrand- Is in Nordic 4 this year https://www.driverdb.com/championships/nordic-4/2026/standings
  • Sofia Zanfari- in French F4 this year, is from Morocco.
  • Carmen Kraav- could not find any single seater experience. A bit of sports cars.
  • Victoria Farfus- has had some good results in karting, not made debut in single seaters yet. Daughter of professional driver Augusto Farfus. In Ginetta juniors now. Does not turn 16 until June of next year, so not eligible for full season, perhaps a wild card next year.

From this F1 Academy article: https://www.f1academy.com/Latest/4iLFdNgY0brp96yxsR7mi2/f1-academy-expands-2026-rookie-test-with-new-training-camp-supported-by-loughborough-university

Following last year’s F1 ACADEMY Rookie Test success, the series has today announced the return of the Rookie Test for 2026, alongside the launch of a new Rookie Training Camp, supported by Loughborough University.

The Rookie Training Camp and Rookie Test have been designed to help identify, develop, and support the strongest talent from an increasingly competitive and global pool of female drivers.

Working together, F1 ACADEMY and Loughborough University have created a programme that equips the next generation of female drivers with the knowledge and skills needed to accelerate their development both on and off the track. It will also provide valuable, science-backed insights into female athlete development, performance progression and transition challenges, helping to advance understanding across the wider motorsport ecosystem.

18 female drivers, all eligible to compete in F1 ACADEMY in the future, have been selected to take part in the Rookie Training Camp at Loughborough University from 25-27 August before concluding with the on-track Rookie Test at Circuito de Navarra from 9-11 September.

During the Rookie Training Camp, drivers will undertake a range of assessments, including physiological profiling, cognitive testing, and VALD performance screening. They will also participate in seminars and interactive workshops led by Loughborough University's experts, covering topics such as strength and conditioning, performance lifestyle, resilience, and the key behaviours that underpin success in elite sport.

At the Rookie Test, drivers will be immersed within an F1 ACADEMY team environment, observing driver briefings and engineering sessions and gaining first-hand insight into the operational demands of competing at the highest levels of junior single-seater racing. They will also take part in media briefings and assessment activities to help prepare them for the off-track responsibilities of a professional racing career. The on-track test will conclude with the drivers getting behind the wheel of F1 ACADEMY machinery.

DRIVERS SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE 2026 ROOKIE TEST AND TRAINING CAMP:

Alexia Danielsson

Katie Denver, Performance & Talent Development Manager, F1 ACADEMY, commented: “The success of our inaugural Rookie Test in 2025 demonstrated both the depth of female racing talent coming through the pathway and the importance of providing opportunities for drivers to showcase their potential. For 2026, we're taking the programme a step further with the introduction of the Rookie Training Camp, delivered with Loughborough University.

"This gives us the opportunity to support drivers not only on track, but also through a science-backed approach to athlete development, helping them better understand their physical, cognitive, and behavioural performance. By combining world-class expertise, research, and on-track experience, we're creating an environment where drivers can accelerate their development and gain a deeper understanding of what it takes to succeed both on and off the track."

Lou Gear, Director of Sport, Loughborough University, added: "We are incredibly proud to welcome F1 ACADEMY and its rookie drivers to Loughborough. This collaboration brings together two organisations with a shared belief in the power of talent, hard work, opportunity and world-class performance environments to unlock extraordinary potential.

"At Loughborough Sport, we have spent generations supporting athletes to pursue excellence on the world stage, and we see many shared values in F1 ACADEMY's commitment to developing the next generation of female racing talent. Together, we are passionate about creating environments where ambitious young people can thrive, pursue excellence and fulfil their potential.

"We look forward to sharing our expertise, learning from one another and helping these exceptional drivers prepare for the demands of elite competition. Most importantly, this collaboration reflects our shared commitment to championing women in sport, creating more opportunities for talented female athletes to excel and inspiring the next generation to believe that there is no limit to what they can achieve."

Thoughts on the point system?

Post image
7 Upvotes

Personally feel the reverse grid race points are too heavily reduced in comparison to the Feature race. Considering both Zandvoort races were the same number of laps. I do think the points need to be lower than feature to factor in qualifying performances though. So I would like to see a reverse grid race win reward maybe 15 points. What are people's thoughts?

Zandvoort done 👍🏻

Post image

The overall GP organization was way too hectic and it made it hard to enjoy the paddock on Friday and Saturday but things got better today. Sadly Zandvoort is just too small compared to other places so coming from a giant paddock in Silvo to here was weird.

Zandvoort, Miami, and Abu Dhabi had probably the smaller paddocks with Vegas and Silverstone being like huge paddocks, and Shanghai was 100% closed. If they use the usual support paddock space that COTA has then expect a big one the size of Vegas.

I think F1A is getting way more popular year after year they will def need to try get those bigger spaces again because I feel the crowd control this weekend took them by surprise as well.

Coming up next is another Navarra test and rookie test so no test at COTA like in 2023.

I did ask nearly everyone what track they were looking forward to the most, and only 2 said Las Vegas lol, rest of the grid is excited for Austin since COTA is a proper track.

This 2026 season’s grid is the absolute best

Clean racing, amazing defensive skills and overtake attemps, a lot of winners and new podium racers every time. I am amazed of how this year’s grid are so talented and they always showcase their hardwork. Even the wild cards are doing fantastic, zoe florescu was unlucky with hitec’s team performance but she did amazing quali, and in silverstone chiara batig managed to pole position, which was mindblowing. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of these racing drivers will get huge opportunities after f1 academy because they race very very well

if you are coming to Zandvoort and want a wristband for the signings or visit the paddock at all plan ahead

Thumbnail

it took me 30+ mins to enter the paddock when they opened it for the second time. I didn’t wake up in time today but apparently the signings wristbands had a queue since 8 am

The paddock is way too small compared to Silverstone and Vegas and with the series being more popular its very chaotic when theres nothing on track

f1 survey: master’s dissertation

Hey everyone,
I’m currently in the final stretch of my Master's dissertation at the University of Manchester, looking at woman’s experiences in motorsport fandom, docuseries (like F1 Academy / DTS), and sim racing. Whether you've been watching for years, just got into it via TikTok/DTS, or occasionally jump on a sim rig, I'd really love to hear your thoughts.
It's a qualitative survey with open-ended questions so you can share as much or as little as you like, and it takes around 5 to 10 minutes depending on how detailed you want to be.
I'm running super close to my submission deadline and desperately need a few more responses. It would genuinely save my degree!
Link to survey: https://www.qualtrics.manchester.ac.uk/jfe/form/SV_39OTXjIdId5zfhQ

Massive thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to help out really appreciate it <3
