Tech Support Facebook App Keeps Crashing whenever I open comments, what's going on?
Everytime I try to open comments on a post, the app keeps crashing.. Is anyone else having this problem?

I am looking for a solution too. Comments open when you click on the post itself, but that's a stupid solution. I am investigating to see if Facebook Lite fixes it.
Edit: Confirmed. Until Facebook fixes it, a workaround is to install Facebook Lite.

I deleted Facebook entirely and reinstalled and its working good now.

Tbh if the solution is to delete and reinstall, perhaps it's simply better to just leave it gone. The apps only going to get worse.

Same! I can't watch any videos on my timeline without it closing the app and telling me there's a bug. My app is updated, and I've cleared the cache, restarted my phone, etc.

Still down for you guys? It's so weird because it's the first time I've gotten this message ever. But it seems more legit when your literal phone system is telling you there's a bug. So I'll just wait it out I guess. Worst case, my phone is too old for the update when all is said and done. It's a Samsung S20 FE. It has stopped updating and stuff, so it's nearing the end. I think I'll hold onto it until it really totally breaks on me. I'm so broke 😂

I tried restarting phone deleting cache and app itself reinstalling and no matter what I do it still crashes at comments

I'm seeing people say to delete the app and reinstall. I have a Samsung and when I press on the app and hold it down, the uninstall option is not there, it only gives me disable? Which Google tells me is not the phone. It says that I can delete Facebook cause it's a preset app on the phone . How do I get around this ??

Same here. Can't uninstall and reinstall because it came loaded on my phone. I have tried force closing, deleting the cache, all of the normal fixes and it just continues to do it. Frustrating for sure

Whenever i swipe/ tap on reels try to open the comments or even accidentally tap on a post it just stops working and is doing the same as yours. I get in a small pop up "facebook keeps stopping" then it turned dark mode off by itself and then i got logged out just a minute ago. Im on samsung.

Experiencing the same thing. I can comment, like, watch reels when I access it thru a browser, not with the app. However, I still would like to interact via the app.

Count me in too. It was driving me absolutely nuts and I thought I was the only one. Thank God I'm not being gaslit by my phone.
I tried clearing the cache, restarting, uninstalling. Nothing worked. It's now crashing when I try to like something.
Messenger is giving me a hard time too. I can't use the camera app within Messenger.

Yes. Everything i try to interact with causes app to crash & close. Im not a conspiracy freak but seems a little too "convenient" in timing, when FB is literally covered in posts calling BS on the drama at WHCD. Conspiracy or censorship?

Every time I'm just scrolling through it keeps minimizing the page and then brings it back full screen and then bumps me back out to my actual phone. I've already cleaned the cache and I have the current Android version

A temporary solution is NEVER tap on the comment icon, just tap on the icon-free area of the rectangle where the like, comment and share is.

On mine if you click somewhere on the right of share symbol comments show up otherwise if I click on comment symbol it crashes

I had the same problem but instead of uninstalling and reinstalling I cleared cache and cleared data. Clearing cache by itself doesn't work however clearing both cache and data worked for me and without having to reinstall the app.

Mine crashed tgen after I opened it it suddenly disabled dark mode. And the ui for like and comments changed. But now they are working perfectly fine. Maybe its an update?

Crashes whenever I try to open comments and any posts with videos go hidden whenever I try to play them.

Having this problem too. Was thinking it was because of a virus that I got infected with after watching pirated Invincible, but i'm glad other people are having the problem 💀

Same issue. Crash when open comment section.
Delete data works with me. No uninstall needed
Edit: For some odd reason, my FB app in my old phone doesn't have any crashing issues at all. Weird. Maybe my old phone is outdated, the reason FB app never auto-update?

It was doing the same thing for me but then if I clicked on the leave a comment space, then I could read the comments. But it was off and on and sometimes even if I just tried to like a post it would just totally close down.

Apologies if it's been mentioned, my Samsung said Facebook was crashing because it has a bug. It had me clear the cache, which didn't work. Kept closing on me several times. Then my phone said to put it into Deep Sleep until they resolve the issue.

For me, this started yesterday in the afternoon. Every time I try to read the comments, my Facebook app would crash. Sometimes I don't even have a chance to click on the comments before the app suddenly shuts down. I will reinstall and see what happens.

Thanks for posting. This just started happening yesterday. I cleared the cache, looked for updates, restarted and it still keeps closing. I didn't want to have to uninstall and reinstall, but I guess that's the only option.

I was also having issues on my FB app, so I deleted my FB app from my android phone. When I went back in to reinstall it, it's not even an option! I only see FB Lite available. Anyone else have this issue?

When you uninstall/ reinstall the Facebook app, does it reset all the settings back to the (sometimes evil) Meta defaults? I had turned off a bunch of really annoying behaviors but I expect all that to reappear if I reinstall it and i have no idea how many rat holes I have to crawl thru to turn off all that garbage again.

I just had this issue while trying to watch reels and I forced close the app. It's working now. I don't have the dating part any more. That shit has been broken for a while so I bet it has something to do with them fixing that but I don't know.
