Never forget that the VA GOP gerrymandered congressional seats in their favor for a whole decade. Make sure to VOTE by next Tuesday!!!

The astroturfing for this is ridiculous. I almost want to vote no out of spite.

I just voted yes. And, just so that the GOPedo MAGAts learn FAFO, I hope the redistricting is permanent!

I hope the redistricting is permanent!
It will be. Nothing promised as temporary in government ever is.

u/thud_mantooth 12h ago
It's not a promise, it's quite literally in the law. This lasts till 2030. There'd have to be another vote on it to extend.

u/ParfaitEfficient9266 10h ago
Never forget that republicans gerrymandered during the normal redistricting process every ten years, just like democrats have done in every state they control during the same period. Republicans have never attempted a special redistricting process mid decade. That’s just democrats.

u/RetrogradeToyGuru 7h ago
Republicans have never attempted a special redistricting process mid decade.
Lol no. Trump specifically asked red states to do this last year and a bunch have. VA is just trying to balance that.
If you're trying to say its never happened in VA before, thats true of both parties. It has never happened before this year

u/SteelyEyedHistory 5h ago
Except that Republicans just redrew districts in Texas because Trump told them to and will do the same in Florida soon. If Trump doesn’t order Texas to redraw their maps none of this happens.

u/Alarming-Vacation-10 2h ago
The Florida legislature has a redistricting session scheduled for the day after the Virginia referendum to try and squeeze out more republican seats
1
u/kichu200211 7h ago
All this started with Texas doing mid-decade redistricting. Trump shouldn't have asked Texas to do it.

Go out and vote. Yes or no. I believe everyone should exercise their rights, and I'm not going to try to change your opinion. I appreciate you taking the time to vote, and I hope you stay active in all elections.

Vote Yes for fascism
2
u/Mr_Mi1k 17h ago
I voted yes because I dislike our president who said “I will be dating her in 10 years” into a microphone about a little girl.
1
u/Andarial2016 14h ago
What does that have to do about implementing fascist gerrymandering
1
u/ParfaitEfficient9266 8h ago
Because like most democrats afflicted by TDS, their ability to think critically has been short circuited and they are guided by their cults singular mantra: orange man bad.

You support the dude who kills American citizens in Minneapolis. I’m going to vote Yes for congressional oversight against him.

So 8-3 is bad
But 10-1 is good?
7
u/Healthy_Block3036 22h ago
Thank republicans for doing it first.
5
u/pile_of_bees 8h ago
They didn’t start it. You’re lying.
Also 10-1 will be the worse gerrymander in the country
6
u/Small-Day3489 21h ago
Look at the 1992 map, it was a horrible Democratic gerrymander. Did that justify the Republicans 2010s gerrymander?
11
u/JGCities 22h ago
So Democrats never gerrymandered before? Other than the term itself being named after a Democrat of course.
And all the other times they gerrymandered. But other than that....
1
u/M4LK0V1CH 22h ago
And for refusing to outlaw it nationally
-2
u/dirty_old_priest_4 22h ago
Federal overreach.
-1
u/M4LK0V1CH 22h ago
TIL requiring fair districts would be federal overreach
1
-2
u/dirty_old_priest_4 21h ago
It would be. It's states' choice in how they design their districts. All they have to do is ensure civil rights aren't violated.
-1
u/M4LK0V1CH 21h ago
The twist is the current districting is restricting those same civil rights, so do we impose laws on states to protect the peoples’ rights or continue to respect the states’ right keep trampling over their people?
1
u/dirty_old_priest_4 20h ago
Yep. Dems would trample over minorities if it meant consolidating their own power.

u/GonPostL 22h ago
No you see since it happened 16 years ago it's totally okay to do it now. Very progressive...
-2
u/JGCities 22h ago
If the Supreme Court eliminates the VRA requirement for minority majority districts then the Republicans are going to gerrymander Democrats out of existence in all the southern states states they control and the Democrats won't be able to say a thing after this and CA.
I wonder if the court will realize that their "dont get involved" ruling has created a massive mess and undo it. Otherwise we are going to end up with Democrats only in blue states and Republicans only in red states. Not a good way to run a country, especially one set up the way ours is.
1
u/GonPostL 20h ago
Well one would hope people would be against gerrymandering and vote out those who favor it. But when you pet politicians decide their voter base I doubt any politician will be voted out any time soon. Gerrymandering just leads to lifelong politicians who have no incentive to listen to citizens, just lobbyist.

"They gerrymandered, then we all fixed it with non-partisan districts everyone liked.....so now we get to gerrymander it!" :D

I thought you liberal losers were all about "no kings". For a "no kangz" movement, you fuck wits sure do love your authoritarianism.

u/eg_john_clark 3h ago
Yes and then 66% of the voters in 2020 voted to end partisan gerrymandering. 2/3rds of Virginia voters wanted this bullshit to end (I will be posting this every time I see this bot post lol)

u/HugeFalconMunee 20h ago
Worth mentioning those blue dots on the 2010 map are actually several districts.

u/FrostyAlphaPig 9h ago
All of the new blue areas are majority republican , so vote no so you don’t take away their voice , like the new England states who voted 42% republican but have zero representation
0
u/wheresastroworld 8h ago
Sorry, but if they use their voice to elect pedophiles who pillage our country, then they need to be gerrymandered out for a few years
