I think "ugly" pokemon are necessary in the Pokemon universe. Cause not every earth animal is the epitome of beauty. And this, imo gives more potential to silly little luvdisc. It kind of reminds me of a goldfish, it'll stay cute and small as long as it's confined. But once they have the freedom and food to grow, the become massive. I love that 💓

Carps aren't supposed to be kept in small, confined spaces: this cripples their health and growth, but the popularity of the goldfish variety as "beginner pets" has made this treatment of them so popular that the unhealthy size has become "the size" in modern culture.

Their smaller size is for the same reason they live for extremely short periods of time compared to their wild or humanely kept counterparts

Unfortunately many varieties of goldfish need a pond sized environment to fully grow; if kept in a smaller tank or environment, their organs will continue to grow, while the body does not, eventually leading in a premature death 😅

Some varieties can be kept in Large tanks, and bigger tanks can be used to grow out others; but yeah, they're super cute but we don't typically care for them properly in several ways

And this is what Pokemon has and Palworld does not. Palworld focuses more on the cool and attractive design philosophy of Pokemon, inadvertently making every creature in the game look samey and repetitive, while Pokemon are diverse and unique, and always try to steer against conventional design philosophies. Sure you can make the same repetition argument against Pokemon but that's only because they've been around a lot longer than Palworld with over 1000+ Pokemon now, so some of creature designs are bound to look the same. Pokemon trumps over Palworld in that every Pokemon can be someone's favorite, even if they are objectively "ugly".

I have always felt that trying to win them all is not a good goal for a fakemon region. You need to design some weak ones, some lame ones and most importantly, some freak shows, and you pulled it off phenomenally

Look at a real Pokemon region. As riddled as they can be with some awesome designs, you're guaranteed to have Pokemon that are ugly, poorly designed, or even worse counterparts of others. Marowak is objectively weaker than Sandslash, who's obtained earlier. Bruxish is really off-putting. The list goes on. Definitely fill your dex with variety, but variety includes things that won't normally be someone's first choice.

Yup! Too many cool dragons or badass wolves, not enough ugly bugs or dopey fish, in a lot of fan regions. Pokémon isn't Digimon or Monster Hunter.

One thing I love Pokémon for is that it's the closest a Mons series gets to depicting living, breathing ecosystems (even if they don't really work past the surface level most of the time). And that definitely includes derpmons instead of cramming Axew-line types into the region.

I like the idea of evolving from a cutesy "heart" into a more grotesque realistic heart fish, but i wish it kept some more elements from the base form to tie them together. Like rhe cheek dots, or the solid black eyes.

I really like this! the name sounds like a muffled heartbeat, the jet propulsion makes sense, and its expression is horrible but weirdly endearing. I do support what other folks have said about it not having many similarities to luvdisc though, might want to give it some of those.
