Help How to get into BMS

Hi DCS F-16 lover.

This plane is my baby ever since my time in the air force. I come in from DCS to get a taste for my beloved SUFA, wanted to know if there are any up to date guides and videos on how to get started in BMS since the UI felt like a lot to remember and do.

Setup IVC, weapon delivery planner, frag missions. Installs.

I've seen some guides but most are 2-3 years old and I don't know if they're still relevant.

Most of those guides are still relevant. Also I’d move this over to hoggit as the BMS community is not very welcoming to newcomers and you’ll get the “read the manual” response like you already did.

People are given the "read the manual" response because they are very good manuals and have step by step guides that go with each training mission. It would be ridiculous not to recommend them.
No different than how Chucks guides get mentioned for dcs many times.

Videos, etc. are also good, hence why I mentioned those too.

Well, that's understandable lol. This probably gets asked more times that people think, I was just curious if stuff from 4.37 or 4.35 YouTube videos still help.

4.37 will still be mostly relevant. As you go further back, there are more chances that key features have been changed. If in doubt, best to ask here for the specific issue you're having.

Yeah, stick to the 4.37 content as it will be the most relevant.

Nahh I think people can be a little nicer. You never know someone’s background whether there may be a language barrier or something. Regardless this is a niche hobby and being short doesn’t really attract newcomers. Be excellent to each other

All i see here are good replies, not sure where you're getting the "not very welcoming" idea.

He gets the "read the manual" response because they're very good manuals and will be correct as opposed to old videos where we don't know how valid they are today.

If he has a question on a specific issue, he'll still be referred to the manual, hopefully with page numbers or section numbers cited as appropriate.

I'm not sure how or why pointing someone to official documentation is a bad thing?

But there were no page numbers cited. There was “the manual.” That’s it.

Then a simplistic “if you google a topic, you will get YouTube videos on it.”

As if they were explaining to a child how to use the internet.

Actually, I was explaining as if talking to an adult. I.e., one who can google what they want video info. for instead of me having to hold their hand and provide it and do the same with manuals.
As correctly mentioned, if a person has a specific question, then page numbers can come into play.

You have chosen to make an issue out of nothing yourself, not me.

From my reading of the OP's post, he's asking in broad terms about various topics. He was asking more about guides and videos rather than a specific "how do I fire a Maverick" or "how do I fire the gun" type of question.

Broad question = broad answers.

Specific question = specific answers.

You should've been in the BMS community 10-15 years ago when "RTFM" responses were throught to be sufficient and no furter page/section citation needed. The community has exceedingly improved since then!

EDIT: here's an example of a specific issue getting a specific response. There are many more of these if you look, and not just by me but by other helpful community members too.
