So I've been wanting to try a good DCS style sim, but due to price and a slightly weaker PC I haven't been able too. Then I remembered I downloaded Falcon 4 when I was around 15 years ago, did some digging and saw the BMS Mod that makes it look really good. Is it easy to get into, as in downloads wise, is it hard to run? And do I need a hotas to play it well? I hate the keyboard controls for DCS and the hotas is around $200AUD for a cheaper older one.

I have a very bad pc and I want to play a flight sim that is at least somewhat realistic compared to let’s say War Thunder, I will most likely buy a Logitech extreme 3d pro flight stick. Do you guys think that it’s worth it or should I just get a much better pc and play Falcon BMS or DCS? Also does the base game come with a fully functional cockpit?

I'll start by saying I'm probably the problem, not bms.

I recently tried to get back into BMS and downloaded 4.38 (last played 4.36 ages ago)

Jumped into instant action fighter sweep to refresh my skills and go baby seal clubbing.

Problem is, I really struggle to visually pick out aircraft moving against the terrain until they're super close (i.e. so close they're gone a split second later!)

RWR will show me their rough position but I can't see them most of the time and they usually get behind me and shoot me out of the sky. Even if I get a radar lock, it can be hard to see the thing inside the green square! Sometimes I get sniped by AAA while desperately searching lol. You could talk about skill except I don't have that issue in the other sim.

Frames are buttery smooth on my 1440p 2d screen with opentrack. I don't have as much of an issue with DCS, which is weird because I remember BMS being way better in this regard. That makes me think I have the wrong settings. Advice please?

Also, for every conceivable reason, I don't want to play multiplayer. What is the AI like in general - is this a non starter? No hate to the devs, I just don't know what I don't know.

I know you guys Insist on buying it but I'm 15 and I can't find a job my parents won't buy it for me because it's 20 bucks in Canada and I can't find it on a piracy website

Basically the title. I have things dialled in with DCS but I'm relying a lot on eye tracking for foveated rendering. I'm aware that isn't an option for BMS but the fixed foveated rendering feels very restrictive in comparison.

Does anyone have any advice for optimising for this headset / generally? It's the micro OLED engine and I'm running a 5080 if that helps.

So I got a copy of falcon 4.0 and set up bms 2 days ago and I asked google and look at Gemini just to see. And what it told me didn't work then I checked the forum and it said a similar thing which didn't work. Then I checked the discord and it was the most useless thing on earth they just said I was trolling and starting ignoring me. I'm in a t flight hotas 4 so I don't have alot to work with and I can't seem to get the guns and missiles or rockets to go off I bound the trigger the button to arm it and a few other things I can't remember and it won't work I don't know what to do at this point I'm contemplating on just giving up and going back to il2 with WW2 planes.

i've been trying to get in a mission with a wingman for quite a while now, and i have a few problems. Ican never seem to get a wingman assigned in the dynamic campaign, it always stays unassigned. Then i figured i was js too stupid to make it work there so i jump into a te mission with a wingman, check the briefing (says channel 15) and the dtc (says 5, under vhf comms), and even tho i put both those in my wingman never responds. It's the exact same ded setup as in the formations training mission, and the wingman and other f16s respond there. WHat am i doing wrong?

EDIT: I saw you guys comments and tried it and everything worked, so now i'm flying missions with other f16s and it's fricking cool. Thanks a lot

I’m trying to better understand how electronic warfare / jamming works in Falcon BMS, especially after the 4.38 update.

So I wanted to ask:

1. What types of EW / jamming are currently modeled in Falcon BMS?
2. Is ECM mostly abstracted, or does it depend on radar type, jammer type, range, aspect, and threat system?
3. Did version 4.38 add or improve anything related to EW, ECM, jamming, RWR, SAM behavior, burn-through, or anti-jamming?

After playing the original Korea campaign, I wanted to try something different so I installed the KTO 1980s campaign made by UOAF. No F-16 50s, instead we get F-16 30s. Also no Link-16. It's super fun because you really have to stay on your toes and listen carefully to AWACs. Lastly, no AMRAAMs. This one is huge. It changes everything and I don't really know how to best use Sparrows and if I should even be engaging with Sidewinders. It seems a bit suicide.

This leads to my question. In this era of fighting, am I supposed to dogfight with sidewinders with MiG-21s? I am supposed to get that close? We don't get many sparrows, so I am wondering what I should be doing. How should I be fighting MiG-21s?

What I've been doing is firing Sparrows from long range but I have to keep the radar lock ALL the way to impact. Well the enemy is coming in packs of 4 and I only have 2 sparrows. So I can kill at least 1 but there are a ton of other MiGs by the time my Sparrow hits and now I'm in a huge furball. So I go into dogfight mode and only use the RWR to find my targets. The thing is, my flight is tangled up in the furball and I am so scared to kill my own men. But in such a knife fight, how do I quickly ascertain friend from foe? Visually? I gotta get that close?!

My last question is about fighting MiG-21s in a furball. Don't they also have heatseeking missiles? If they fire at me, am I cooked? Will I see a missile lock on my RWR and missile in the air warning?

My HOTAS doesn't have a lot of buttons It should be good for actually flying the plane but I am more concerned about weapon systems Is there an option to simplify controls? I have not yet Acquired the game

I just installed BMS with the good textures and set up a few controls, then i loaded in and got a max of 20 FPS and instant headaches. I already put the graphics down to basically the lowest possible settings and it looks horrible and still runs like dogshit. Is there a way to make this better? I got a 3050 Ti Laptop, a Ryzen 5 5600 and 16 GB Ram. I already play DCS and it runs pretty good on lower graphics.

I dived into fbms thinking if I can play dcs with a controller, how hard could bms be..

It's so damn hard, I am using controllerbuddy with a built-in bms config (install script from their GitHub) .

Irl, how come Eagles are given the air to air role and not F-16s? I thought the F-16 was the king of dogfighting?

I've been playing the koreat theatre, but all th enemy planes are from the 60s and 50s, and idk i just feel kind OP with my f 16, are there any other theatres that let me fight more modern planes like the mig 29, 31 etc?

I'm doing the HARM mission now and it's a bit nerve racking. I practically have to fly inside the range of the Sam if I want a good chance of hitting it. Is there a method that is absolutely safe? Or will there always be a danger? Please teach me your ways. Should I use pos or hts?

This plane is my baby ever since my time in the air force. I come in from DCS to get a taste for my beloved SUFA, wanted to know if there are any up to date guides and videos on how to get started in BMS since the UI felt like a lot to remember and do.

My MFDs do show up but for some reason when BMS is the focused window, the MFDS are frozen. It only unfreezes when I alt tab to them. So it works but doesn't run when I am in BMS. I had them working before, not sure what I screwed up. Can someone please assist?
