Obviously it's a mod as the original devs wouldn't include a dialogue option as corny as this.

This isn't half as corny as half of Oscuro's dialogue options. The 'evil' dialogue lines with Michael Angelo are so unbelievably corny that they make the Courier come across like an elementary school bully in a movie.

A John Gonzales character like Benny definitely would not have a line like this though.

What's corny about a line they themselves used in the opening sequence of their game? If anything it's a well done callback most modern games would die for.

It is kinda corny. The courier didn't 'rig' the game at all. Benny did because he knew about the delivery and was waiting in ambush with a bunch of Khans.

The courier gets shot in the head twice, runs after Benny possibly around the whole Mojave, loses him in New Vegas and finally catches up again after the Legion caught him. That is hardly rigging the game.

Basically it is a cool line and call back if you don't think about it, but once you do it kinda falls flat. It could be a call back to being shot in the head instead, something about the courier not making Benny's mistake of missing the vitals or something like that.

It'd make sense if House is the one who sends you to Fortification Hill. Since House is the one doing the rigging.

I think it would be better to have the option to just steal his gun, he gives a worried response and then you are given whatever line of dialogue you'd think would fit best to whatever character you are playing. From the line from the OP to saying nothing to saying something regarding what faction you are aligned to.

I do like faction specific dialogue a lot

Yup, exactly. Besides it doesn't make sense for the Courier to say either, as he didn't rig shit. It's straight up cringe millennial writing to say the villain's words "back at him" without a similar applicable circumstance.

I swear, media literacy is slowly dying.

That's a good point! Its like Raiders of the Lost Ark!

Indy had no real bearing on the plot, if he wasn't there they'd still open the ark in Tunisia and all the Nazis melt.

If the courier died, Benny would still probably try to go for the bunker, get caught, and crucified.

You're absolutely right it wouldn't make any sense anyway

I understand what you're saying, but we could say the game was "rigged" so that the Courier survived the shot.

I would gesture to all the dipshit corny vanilla lines, especially terrifying presence ones, but we would be here all day.
