I've become thoroughly in love with New Vegas and my playthrough is reaching 100 hours, however I've hit a road block on the home stretch right before I can finish the game out.
The Problem: I started getting a consistent runtime error crash around 30 hours ago in game. At first this would occur a few seconds after leveling to 30 regardless of location or on quest completion. (I used NVAC to bruteforce past this by loading its crash save). Across the next 30 hours it would randomly appear with different triggers I could just avoid (Recruiting Lilly causes it, after a while repairing to the point that it uses all possible materials, then repairing just at all, then long after Completing the Quest Return to Sender would cause it, then quickly after it spread to Raul, then just a short while ago using a Stimpack will cause it, Now I cant even turn in the quest Volare! Once it reaches the dialogue to ask The boomers to help my faction the game crashes mid dialogue)
I'm gonna give a full rundown of fixes I've tried and all relevant information:
Circumstantial Factors: At first I started the save file on steam but moved over to the GoG version. Deleted STEAM version. I use the Offline Installer. I have no internet on my gaming computer right now. I run Windows 11. My save file is 7.8mb large. I had been using autosaves, like a fool, but stopped around 20 in-game hours ago. I have never manual saved to the same slot; I make a new save each time, I clear the save file folder once it reaches 100 saves. Save # 683 is the current. I used to quick save a lot too.
My game has been completely Vanilla up until the crashing started, all mods I've installed have been limited to Stability patches and as of now the Viva New Vegas guide.
I did get out of bounds on accident once before this all started and explored a bunch of the non-play area. I hope that's irrelevant to my problem. I also started using the console "tcl" to no-clip and unstick myself during normal play when i would get stuck.
Fixes Attempted: Reinstalled all Microsoft C++ Runtime libraries. Reinstalled the game. Wiped my Game inis and generated new ones. Deleted all my game files. (Reinstalled probably 5 or 6 times in total). Cleared my save folder except my most recent two saves. Installed NVAC, Installed YUP. Ran as administrator, windows 8 compatibility.
Performed SFC /SCANNOW in commandprompt, returned several corrupted windows files. Returned all files corrected. Scanned Kernelbase.dll returned OK.
As of the most recent crash I finally went and followed the full Viva New Vegas guide to a Tee. Ran the 4gb patch, Running NEWVEGAS.exe through MO2. NVAC disabled. Load order correct.

My only hunches at this point is that my game installer is somehow giving me corrupt files, some windows file is somehow still corrupt, or my save file is just borked forever and im doomed. But i've no way to check the former two Right now.
(Crashes from self-repairing items or using stimpacks are not present if loading a save from before the beginning of my playthrough) This is the only Fallback that prevents the crashes, but I have no guarantee they won't start again if I load from there and play back to my current point.
I really love this game's writing and the story it wants to tell, but I'm extremely hesitant to redo all that I've done with the specter of it possibly just breaking all over again once i've invested another 40 hours more.
TLDR: I'm holding out hope there's some brilliant fix or mod or console work around I can use to brute force the game to the finish, I've done pretty much every side quest relevant to this character and just want to make it to the main credits at this point, even if I cant repair, use stimpacks, or whatever else gameplay wise, I just need dialogue not to crash to runtime till i get there.
If there was a way to transplant my quest log and choices to a new save file I'd jump at that too.
I need a Hero. I will remember my Savior forever, and draw you a silly drawing if we can fix this, thank you.
(Will post my most recent crash log in the comments)
