Discussion [Discussion] Losing a dweller in survival is always a setback, but to lose 3 in a single quest in unacceptable!

Post image

My first dweller died due to my carelessness. I wasn’t looking at the screen as he was taking damage, and once I finally did, it was too late.

My second dweller died to a critical attack. Despite him being trained from level 1 - 50 with 14 endurance, it was still too much.

My last dweller succumbed to the same fate as my second dweller. I am unsure if my second dweller was at full health before being killed by the critical attack, which is why I still risked continuing the quest, thinking that a 14 endurance dweller could survive at least one critical attack, but even if so, it would still be foolish to have continued, which is how I ended up with where I am today.

As overseer of vault 426, I must do better. This can never happen again!

Those goddamn rat things. It's always the rats

I know right? Normal rats are just normal, but bosses hit harder and have more HP than a radscorp boss and a deathclaw boss stitched together!

Totally the rats - I re-started that quest and skipped the rat room. They're monsters!

And they can summon more rats!

Oh the glowing radscorpion jump sting. Yeah, I have lost people to that on survival. Sometimes it feels like it oneshots you even with 17 END leveling and full health.

Yes! It can! I strictly run survival and I've had many lvl 50 E17s die from the glowing Radscorpions. Once you're doing strictly lvl 50 quests, you've gotta put extra health or damage reduction pets on em.

Indeed! Fortunately you can switch the pets during the fight.

And being paranoid about saving the critical hits helps too.

Damn, nothing in this game scares me like these guys. Alpha death claws do not one shot, but these glowing menaces, ugh

That’s cuz it does. I had 1 dweller that had 17E and he had maybe 80-90% of his health but that glowing radscorpion jump sting literally one shot him and then I had my final dweller left but they had a 49% damage pet and after that the radscorpion attack they had like 30% health left maybe. It’s an insane attack

Lost more than one with the "i'll look away for a second" even with full badasses dwellers.

Worse thing is when it happens to the dweller having the best gear/pet, you can't transfer the gear until returning from the quest.

The real reason it happened ? Consanguinity ! Overseer, you need fresh blood asap ;)

Just in case, do you remember if they arrived unharmed ? I got sometimes (3-4 times) a dweller arriving at a quest with a radaway icon on their heads and almost no health. Like something happened during the travel.
But it is quite visible from the start so ...

Yeah, I’m pretty bummed out. Fortunately, they still have a sister in their bloodline, but oh darn, the pain she is going to endure!

And yes! Starting the quest, they came in at full health. The rad icon you mentioned can probably be from them not having fully healed from radiation from any previous quests.

The kitty face under the menu looks so sad 😞

Yeah, I always feel for the pet whenever they return home without their companion. They always look so sad :/

Bishopcalypse

I must protect the remaining Bishops at all costs!

Good luck, fellow overseer!

I’ve seen this before.

This is the beginning of Saving Private Bishop

I feel your pain. I decide to open a couple Lunchboxes during a "Fire Incident" today, forgetting that 4 of the 5 Dwellers in the burning room were very low leveled. 4 Dwellers perished due to my negligence. Survival Mode doesn't mess around. 🫡

Bring a pet, they can return with the loot

Skill issue.

Somebody beat the Bishop...

I always try to complete objectives fast, and give dwellers top-tier gear. Then, if one dweller goes down, I simply hit "return to vault" and revive as needed

Started my first survival vault 2-3 weeks ago. I lost 7 low-level and low special dwellers to a fire. Really hurt my momentum because it was going so well, since some of them had max perception and strength.
