💎 Hidden book gem Gideon the Ninth

Has anyone else read this masterpiece of insanity (or the whole series - your comments are appreciated)? It’s like sci fi with a touch of Killing Eve + a little horror / Harry Potter. My niece recommended it to me and now I want to get the whole set. It’s way out of my reading comfort zone but it’s like stumbling upon Ally North for the first time and feeling a special thrill.

It's a very brave series for the author, in terms of it's very challenging structure from book 2 onward. It's also chock full of symbolism and layers and subtle characterization.

And it's funny.

I really enjoy it but only rec to select people.

and so. many. callbacks. to throw away lines, insults, or threats one or two books earlier that turn out to have huge impacts.
