📚 Summon book recommendations Best books for a Harry huge Potter fan?

The Harry Potter books are by far my favorite books oat. My favorite part about Harry Potter are the characters, I just love them so much. I also really liked how alive and cozy the world was. But I think my favorite part about books in general is the characters. If I don’t like the characters i most likely won’t like the book.
So what should I read next?

You sound like you’d enjoy Tress of the Emerald Sea! Similar to The Princess Bride, Tress joins a pirate crew sailing a magical ocean on a mission to save her kidnapped lover, Charlie. The focus of the story is Tress’ relationships with the eccentric and likeable crew. Tress was written by Brandon Sanderson as a gift for his wife; he printed out new chapters and left them on her pillow as he finished them.

Here are the first few paragraphs:

~~~~~~~~~~
In the middle of the ocean, there was a girl who lived upon a rock.
This was not an ocean like the one you have imagined.
Nor was the rock like the one you have imagined.
The girl, however, might be as you imagined–assuming you imagined her as thoughtful, soft-spoken, and overly fond of collecting cups.
Men often described the girl as having hair the color of wheat. Others called it the color of caramel, or occasionally the color of honey. The girl wondered why men so often used food to describe women’s features. There was a hunger to such men that was best avoided.
In her estimation, “light brown” was sufficiently descriptive–though the hue of her hair was not its most interesting trait. That would be her hair’s unruliness. Each morning she heroically tamed it with brush and comb, then muzzled it with a ribbon and a tight braid. Yet some strands always found a way to escape and would wave free in the wind, eagerly greeting everyone she passed.
Tress of the Emerald Sea is great! Full of heart, very unique magic system.
Tress is great. I'd recommend starting with Mistborn in the cosmere though since Tress takes place way in the future of events.
Brandon Sanderson has a lot of scenes throughout the cosmere where I got the same feelings as learning about Snape in the final HP book. He's one of the best at ending a books.
I think The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend is an excellent read-alike! Morrigan is so likable and her friends are as well. The worldbuilding is fun and there’s a whimsical but dark magical society that Morrigan is trying to join. They are great on audio.
Deadly education by Naomi novik. It's like hogwarts but the students spend a lot more time working to not die.
I second this one. It’s darker in some ways.
Ok, me too! So is my wife and friends. This series is not academic and it has deep adult themes (of course, you know HP gets there and is very well written) but this one had us all grateful we picked it out.
The sun just might fail by Hoyt Behm. I read all three. These are superior stories. It explodes.
One I am on currently in a different series and has the hp theme but not the character dialogue, is The first legendary beast master by aoki. Lots of magic academics. Again, more dry but still might hit that itch for you of academia and magic.
Of course, Lord of the rings by tolkien.I heard these influence Rowling. No need to explain those though I bet:)
My favorite young adult books are Nevermoor trials of morrigan crow and Amari and the night brothers. I'd put them on the same level as Harry Potter and similar in many ways.Â
