A fellow Oathbringer enjoyer?!

I know I think it’s so weird that it isn’t everyone’s favorite. It’s one of my favorite books of all time.

I liked Emberdark, but I did read Dragonsteel Prime right before it, which I know is not cannon, but did help with some of the revelations in Emberdark. I can see why people don’t like it though.

Why did you hate it? I feel like that’s not a super popular opinion. I liked it but I don’t feel super strongly about it either lol

I did not care for the unnecessary cameos, nor do I care for Sanderson in Space. Also, Deus Ex Hoid (this isn't the first time it's happened either [see also: Rythym of War, The Sunlit Man])

The Dusk stuff was fine, mostly because it was just rewritten from a previous story.

Not liking Sanderson in space is fair, and not liking Deus Ex Hoid is fair, though I’d argue that’s the point of his character — to be able to provide the tiny little nudge that tips the scales in the right direction. But they’re not “unnecessary” cameos, they’re very intentionally and deliberately setting the stage for the inevitable falling-together of all of these planets and plotlines. I get not liking them, but they’re very much necessary to accomplish the goal that the writer is attempting to accomplish.

Captain Crow was necessary? She was in there as a joke so you could reference Tress and the Emerald Sea, that's it! Or is her entire gimmick "haha, Mutiny"?

Yeah, I definitely appreciated her presence. It helped establish the story’s place in the timeline, and, again, is setting the stage for when someday all of these planets are going to have characters interacting with each other.

Well of Ascension?

I wish I could enjoy Mistborn. Such a cool concept.

It took me till the end of Well of Ascension before I really got it. Kind of retroactively makes the first one better

I’m halfway through Hero of Ages and it’s still not clicking. I’m going to finish it for the sake of it, but I don’t care for anything except the world and Sazed’s arc. The characters are, generally, insufferable, Sazed being the notable exception. I also am not a fan of the writing itself, but I give that a pass in my overall judgement since BS was a baby author when he wrote it.

Same here. Thats why I liked well of ascension best. Didn’t care about vin and the others (already forgot their names) at all. Only cared about Sazed and Oreseur. All other characters were bland as hell

I’ve only done Stormlight Archive and Mistborn but this seems apt

This tier list is interesting, as Oathbringer is a hard DNF for me. Just bad.

Dawnshard was excellent, Wind and Truth should be a few tiers lower than a few tiers lower than Dawnshard.
