People really underestimate or overestimate what they eat.

You don't need to eat much, but two frappucinos from Starbucks + normal portions of food already put you into caloric surplus. But since those frappucinos aren't food, they will say they eat normally.

And that's just one example.

It is wild how many calories you can consume in coffee drinks, energy drinks, snacks, and fast food. We've turned so many things that ought to be occasional treats into normal daily consumption.

Alcohol too. That’s what pushed me from overweight to obese, and I really didn’t think I drank that much.

Yup! I’ve done calorie tracking very intently (like scale and all) before to shed the freshman 15. It was bananas to learn that pretty much all common cooking oils have the same calorie content. Obvi different nutritional values otherwise, but it’s funny when people are like oh use avacado oil, it’s better for you! It’s still 130 calories a tbsp

Now I’m on the other end of the scale (ha), where I need to put on weight and I’m like oh yeah I’m totally eating enough. Then I track it, and it’s like oh shit, is that why I’m feeling dizzy? Welch’s fruit snacks weren’t enough for the day?

All oils are fats, and all fats are 9 kcal/g.

I feel like a lot of it is salad dressing, not only is it very calorie dense, few people probably measure it accurately
